We really must find a good way to recognize each other next time. It's really not too expensive to have buttons / badges made. We could use the ER logo, and each put our user name on it in permanent marker. That's a project we could work on over the winter.

gwarrington, i would love to hear your story, too, if you don´t mind! thank you in advance!

Johanna, i spotted some MK fans with "forum t-shirts" at the shows, this would also be an idea... but i think badges or something similar are more discrete and an nicer way!

Plus, T-shirts are far more expensive to have printed, esp if you want individual names of them. I only checked one offer for badges earlier, but you can get 100 at 0.79 € apiece.

Hi everybody-
The guy's name is Tommy Morrangiello (sp) and there were a few shows in 2005 (I think) when he got on stage and played guitar with Bob and the boys on a few songs. You couldn't really hear him in the mix but it was cool that Bob let him come out and jam out.
He even made onto Bill Pagel's setlist instrument descriptions (w/ Tommy on electric guitar).
There were rumors that it was due to an anniversary or birthday or something.
Certainly seems like a trusted employee and faithful servant!

Badges make sense, I'd be up for that. Whiteface is cheaper, however, I suppose a few people would oppose it on fashion grounds and, quite frankly, for anyone uninitiated the sight of a group of whitefaced people is probably going to be quite frightening.

My sources indicate he has been with Bob since '97.

Has not wearing a name tag shielded you from abuse thus far?

That seems a little over the top. I've seen them use this methodology for day care centers though so it might work.

One of my pre-show rituals is spotting this guy. I think he does more than "watch the guitars." That's what I do. I've seen him tune the piano (organ), the mandolins and smaller instruments, burn the incense, bring out the drinks, ( and Dylan's special orange drink), tape down loose wires, bring out the set-lists, and walk very fast to and fro. He works for Bob Dylan and so he is awesome in my book.

Works his ass off every night. Sets up Bob - everything from the statue to the mini lites and set lists. My fav is every show he takes Bob's guitar off stage right before the encore and then brings it back, plugs it in and strums it - even though Bob has never used it during the encore.

GO WONG GO!

Yik joined the Bob crew after the 1998 tour of Aus/NZ. He and several other members of Patti Smith's crew came to work for Bob after that joint tour.
Patti was able to have a clear sound mix each night on that tour while Bob's sound was dreadful. This lead to changing of the guards with Bob recruiting Patti's sound guy and roadies.

I think Bob used guitar at least in some of European cities this summer during AATW.

there MIGHT be more than one Yik Wong in the world. very little indicates that this is the facebook page of Dylan's technician.

i am very sure i've seen him since 1990 european summer tour. Some of Bob's current staff i've seen since my first show, in 1987. so Bob might not be the worst boss in the world.

Yeah, I saw Tommy play a few times with Bob as well. Don't recall the year. Somewhere in the States. It was when Bob had the keyboard on the left side of the stage as you view the band. Tommy would stand behind the keyboards and Bob as he played. I remember thinking how nice it was that Bob let him play. Tommy was always REALLY nice and very professional and I was so happy for him that he'd earned the respect of Bob to have him join in. A real tribute to Tommy. Glad to hear he showed up on Sunday.
