Bob Weir opening at Hershey Pa. Should be a good show! Dead played at the amusement park in 85 as I recall. I wonder if this is a one off, or if there will be more weird stuff w/ Bob Weir

It seems that way, although not so weird, unless you mean Weir-d...

Bob Weir will play a solo opening set for Bob Dylan this September. The performance will take place at Hershey, PA’s Hershey Park Pavilion on September 9. Weir and Dylan have shared the stage many times over the years, most famously when the Grateful Dead toured as Dylan’s band in 1987. Dylan also opened for the Dead several times in the early ’90s. Dylan sat in with the reformed Dead in 2003 and co-headlined a few runs with Phil Lesh in ‘99 and ‘00.

A pair of Bob’s with a long history together will team up on September 9, when Grateful Dead / Furthur guitarist Bob Weir will open for Bob Dylan at Hershey Park Pavilion in Hershey, Penn. Weir will perform a solo acoustic set at the show. Tickets go on sale July 21st at 10AM EDT. Other newly announced Dylan shows include a Sept. 2nd gig at Bethel Woods; a Sept. 6th performance at Artpark in Lewiston, New York; a  Sept. 7th concert at Mountain Park in Holyoke, Mass. and a Sept. 8th show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. Dylan and his band recently completed three days of rehearsals in Poughkeepsie, New York in advance of the group’s world tour, which kicks off at Hop Farm Music Festival in England on Saturday.

These two could actually do a nice 3-song acoustic interlude if they wanted to. Just them and their acoustic guitars, unpressured. Would a be a show highlight. Are you listening Bob?

With Tony G. on upright bass, could be fun.

Stu and Charlie are both strong acoustic players as well. Charlie could play Dobro... Stu on acoustic guitar and Donny on mandolin, banjo, or fiddle. They could develop an interesting sub-set.
