This is not exactly a "new" version. It is more or less the arrangement they played from 2006-2009, only slowed down and simplified a little bit and without the electric slide solo parts that used to drive the song forward. It seems that Dylan has found out that none of his musicians is able to play this instrument and now they are all noodling between the verses. But the piano sounds great and it was the first time in 3 years that I really enjoyed a performance of this song. Nonetheless it gets a little tedious after some minutes because there is not much musical variation.

Thanks Eternal, but I have heard that one already. It is very good, I just thought he changed it again since the European leg. I am never satisfied!! : ) I would like to hear the one from a few nights back, so if it surfaces or I come across it I will be sure to post. Surely there are a couple differences! ; )

@Philly: there're just a few changes. bob plays grand piano and the ending is like the one from the previous version!

I would say, it's an attempt at singing these rockers in a manner where he doesn't have to bark the lyrics, as he has been doing for several years. He's slowing them down, and lowering the sound level of the instruments. It allows him to sing in a lower and clearer register. He's done the same thing with HW 61 and a few others. The upside, is less barking, leading to a clearer vocal. (It also allows him to showcase the grand piano a little more.) The downside, I would assume, to some, is that it takes a little bit of the steam out of the songs. I prefter the clearer vocal and slower arrangement.

I don't think the slowed down, quieter version of this works nearer as well as it does on some others. This new style works better when it invokes a clearer vocal. This performance doesn't do that. So, without that...I would prefer to hear it rock.

It's great -because it still has that train wheels sound too. To me, it sounds like tall tales about hobos hopping trains come to life, with the singer tossing and turning in the cold freight car, not knowing what he's going to wake up to...even if that's probably not what "butter & eggs in my bed" :?: means. I really like this song, this version and the other one too.
