Bob Dylan and His Band
Cap Roig Festival
Botanical Gardens Auditorium
Cap Roig, Spain
Saturday, 14 July 2012

Capacity: 1600

Show number 26 of the '2012 Never Ending Tour' plows on into Cap Roig, Spain to continue his festival run. This one promises to be an intimate venue with a small crowd. The one to not dare miss! Damn.

from:

Cap Roig, SPAIN - Bob Dylan, ‘the poet laureate of rock ‘n’ roll’, is scheduled to perform the Grand Opening Concert at the 12th Cap Roig Festival on 14 July. Bob Dylan & His Band are now in the middle of a world tour during which the singer-songwriter may be finishing up the details for the launch of his new album, featuring titles with a Latin American influence.
Robert Allen Zimmerman, who adopted his stage name as an expression of his admiration for the poet Dylan Thomas, began his musical career by forging his own style based on the revival of folk music to which he added lyrics loaded with symbolism and rebellion that made him a leader of his country’s defiant youth.
Songs like ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’, ‘Masters of War’ and ‘Talkin’ World War III Blues’ revolutionised popular music all over the world and opened up new horizons for both singer-songwriters and rock bands alike. Some of his most noteworthy albums include The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan (1963), Blood on the Tracks (1975), the five album anthology Biograph (1985), Oh Mercy (1989), Love and Theft (2001) and the phenomenal Modern Times (2006), which was named Rolling Stone magazine’s best album of the year and Billboard’s number one album, and won two Grammys – one for best contemporary folk album – as well as going platinum in both the US and the UK.
Holder of an honorary doctorate from Princeton University, Dylan has been nominated on several occasions for the Nobel Prize in Literature for his contributions as a writer, and in 2007 he received the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts. Among his many achievements, he has received numerous Grammys – including the special Lifetime Achievement Award for his entire artistic career – and an Oscar and a Golden Globe for best song for his ‘Things Have Changed’.
His protest songs don’t only reflect people’s feelings about contemporary issues, but their lyrics are also filled with poesy, containing messages that give a new meaning to popular music and which have earned him the honor of being the voice of his generation. Bob Dylan, one of the most important and influential American singers and songwriters of modern music and the touchstone by which all singer-songwriters are measured: a musical icon whose performance will open the Cap Roig Festival.

Was just thinking the same thing. A shout out to Woody on his 100th Birthday seems appropriate.

Small venue. Less chance of live communication lines. I think jcastro is there, so he may report, or ad lib, later.

Don't expect this to happen. It seems Bob doesn't usually pay tribute to dead people that he has praised/paid tribute to while they were alive. Probably thinks "Been there done that" and there would be some truth to that.

True. Never expect anything from Bob. That's a sure-fire recipe for letdown.

It was a 10 pm start, not 9. So we must be closing in on Thunder by now.

At least he paid tribute to Elvis
16.08.2009 Stateline 32th death day "Heartbreak Hotel"
And
21.05.1998 Frank sinatra (one day after death announcement. Frankie died on 14.05.) "Restless Farewell"
05.04.1997 Allen Ginsberg (Death day) "Desolation"
He paid tribute to both of them while they were alive!!!

No, this year only Salzburg and Barolo. (That's enough with Bobs actual show "voice, band, etx), although Salzburg was very enjoyable).
I've done too many shows since 1978.

I understand. I only catch a few per year anymore, either. Although, I still would've loved to do both Latin America & Europe if time and money allowed.

I was really surprised in Salzburg. It was really an improvement compared to the terrible shows with MK in autum and some shows 2009-2010. I know most of us never get enough. The same faces at the rail since the early 90's. Sorry, but I can't stand them anymore (I was also one of them. Now I try to speak with them less as possoble). Something happened last years. It's still Bob but the feeling isn't the same anymore. Still great for few shows a year but not for the whole tour. sometimes I wonder how he can go on like this but then he made a terrific job again. Still the big years for me were 1990-2001 (1991 too :D ). Something happened 2002, although these were the best NET shows for many. After switching too IOT, nothing was the same again, but we still had many legendary great shows.

BTW I think he played Hollies Brown and Hattie Carroll today and Desolation, Hard rain or Visions.
