I am, I think the new shows are some of the best he's done in a while. His voice sounds smoother, although I've always loved his voice. The piano is great, although I do miss the organ. But I have all the shows so far since Hop Farm, and there really. Great arrangements, he seems really happy.

BTW is there any footage of him doing My Back Pages yet?

EDIT; Can this please get moved to the Bob Dylan Tour section? I thought I posted it there. thank you.

I do! The piano really changes things. And the new High Water is just great with the drums/harp at the end.

I love Greece and the people there. I stayed on Crete for 3 months in the 70ties...a small fishingvillage called Mirtos...I left a big piece of my heart there....

I do like the new sound. And I agree, he sounds smoother, I reckon that's party due to the fact that the band doesn't seem to play as heavy and loud as last year because you can't turn up the volume of the grand piano like you can on the organ. As a result Dylan doesn't have to scream as much to get on top of the music.

Not entirely sure if I like the idea of the even more diminished arrangements, it sometimes seems as if there are no arrangements at all anymore, just Dylan playing something and the band simply follows. That's an interesting starting point for cool improvisations if you are a master on the piano, but Dylan's ideas/abilities seem to be somewhat limited. We'll see how it develops!

I'll agree that the band could be tighter perhaps , like it was in 2002 for example . I'm digging Bob's crazy three note solos , but the band is playing less and less solos . By the way , i really love Bob's voice !

I really like these "new" shows. The piano is a welcome addition, it brings something fresh to the show. It's good that Bob is still willing to try out something new.And everybody in the band seems to have a good time on stage, which is great to watch.
Could it also be that the sound is better? You can make out all the instruments, every individual player, in the past to me it mostly felt mashed together, but maybe that's just my impression.

Can´t wait, Cry a while, Make you feel my Love, She belongs to me,
Desolation Row, love it

love every version of the double punch thc & tangled - love his harp - his voice
love every BOATM - love the latest TOTM, after a long time not enjoying this song anymore after - I think 2009 -

The "new" shows if you wanna call it are really great - piano inventive - IMO

I'm enjoying reading the setlists and reviews, happy our Bob is still on the road heading to another joint.

That being said I'm not bothering to keep all the shows I've downloaded as his voice isn't as good as last Euro tour. If you remember last year there was much praise as to how he sounded better than previously, some even wondering if he had an operation.

I'm sure its still a blast to attend however and little or no organ is a BIG plus.

Due to broadband issues, I haven't downloaded a full show yet but based on attending Salzburg and from looking at the setlists, I'm very happy with where he is at the moment. Why?

1. Unless Salzburg was an unusually good night, the vocal is a notch up from last few years. Barking quota much reduced, much smoother sounding (reminding me of late 05 on more than one occasion) and a tender, more delicate approach on the piano tracks with a greater range of expression.

2. The piano: No doubt we will tire of it but for me, it's a quantum leap over the organ and brings a more intimate feel to proceedings. Bob needs to avoid falling into the trap of playing the same riff on most of the songs. There's just about enough variety at the moment and hopefully he can keep it up.

3. No Bob guitar: or at least there was none in Salzburg. It gets in the way and without it, things just felt smoother.

4. Good balance between piano and out front: feels like about 60/40 in favour of piano and that works for me. One danger with the piano tracks is that a succession of them can reduce the energy, particularly in big arenas, so him coming out front and delivering killer versions of Hollis B and High Water, as he did in Salzburg for example, is perfectly judged.

5. There seems to be a bit more variation in the sets, certainly compared to South America or last Autumn. Some nice reintroductions to the set of late and hope this is maintained.

tell me again, what has changed?

go Beatty!

http://www.angelfire.com/ak/ThePoet/Timeline.html

-In 1946, his Grandmother, Anna, took him to a mother's day celebration. Everybody got up to perform, but little Bobby was the only one who was listening. Then he went up to perform. He stampted his foot and commanded attention. Bobby said "If everyone in this room will keeep quiet I will sing for my grandmother. I'm going to sing "Some Sunday Morning". The four year did sing it, and tore the whole place apart. His encore was "Accentuate the Positive."

-Two weeks later the four year old had his next gig, at his aunt's lavish wedding reception at the Covenant Club. Beatty decked her son in a white Palm Beach suit, and a handful of relatives contributed money to pay Bob for singing. He didn't want to sing, but was persuaded by his father. So he made his "if everyone will please be quiet I will sing" speech, and he sang his 2 songs. The audiance cheered and took the $25 pay from his uncle. Hey then walked over to his mother. "Mummy", "I'm going to give the money back", and he did, and almost upstaged the bridal couple.

I like the actual shows really, the arrangements of the songs are very nice, and the most important, Bobby is in good mood- smiling, laughing, joking just happy, that's how we want to see him most of all, needless to mention his age, yes - the European shows so far are great moments for every fan, not so much surprisingly just watch the videos from his fantastic Latin shows just a few months back, I think it's time to say THANK YOU BOB - GOD PROTECT YOU !

yep loving them and I reckon they're only going to get better with Bob becoming more familiar with playing the piano with the band.

I've loved the bulk of the recordings coming through , the soundcloud full concerts I found great listening and there have been some exceptional song performances. Really looking forward to seeing it for myself on Sunday, genuinely excited - this tour has been a nightmare for those who are angered by people loving Bobs tours 8)
