Cranbrook, British Columbia, CANADA - One of the the most influential figures of the 20th Century, both musically and culturally, will perform a special concert at the Cranbrook Rec Plex on Sunday August 12. The performance will be the only B.C. date on Bob Dylan's Canadian tour this summer.

Dylan's 2012 version of the Never Ending Tour began on April 15th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and will take him to Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, and Mexico, with visits in Europe and Canada.

Bob Dylan has both amplified and personalized musical genres. His recording career, spanning 50 years, has explored numerous distinct traditions in American song ? from folk, blues, and country to gospel, rock and roll, rockabilly to English, Scottish and Irish folk music and even embracing jazz and swing. He has recorded 34 studio albums, 13 live albums, 14 compilation albums, nine albums comprising the Bootleg series, and 58 singles, many of which are instantly identifiable to music fans all over the world.

Songs such as "Blowin' in the Wind," "The Times They Are A-Changin'," "Mr. Tambourine Man," " All Along the Watchtower," "Lay, Lady, Lay," "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," "Forever Young," "Gotta Serve Somebody," and "Like a Rolling Stone."

In both 2004 and 2011, Rolling Stone Magazine listed the song "Like a Rolling Stone" as the number 1 song of all time in their Top 500 Greatest of All Time listings. Many others recorded songs written by Bob Dylan and had major hits - artists like Sonny and Cher, Jimi Hendrix, Joan Baez, The Byrds, The Hollies, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Manfred Mann, The Turtles, and the Association.

As a songwriter and musician, Dylan has received numerous awards over the years including an incredible 11 Grammy awards, a Golden Globe and Academy Award, and he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Songwriters Hall of Fame. In May of this year Dylan received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama. This award is the highest civilian award in the U.S.A. It recognizes those individuals who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or National interests of the US, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."

Obama said, "There is not a bigger giant in the history of American music than Bob Dylan." Certainly that profound comment is backed up by world class artists who have testified to Dylan's influence. Artists which include the likes of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Pete Townsend, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Joni Mitchell, and many more.

Time magazine in their Top 100 most important People of the Century article, identified Dylan as a master poet, social critic, and intrepid guiding spirit of the counterculture generation.

Typically Dylan's shows see him performing with guitar, keyboards, and harmonica, backed up by a band of accomplished musicians.\

"An Evening With Bob Dylan" will be stopping at the Cranbrook Rec Plex on August 12, early 7:30 p.m. start. Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday June 22 at 9 a.m. at the Cranbrook Rec Plex Box office or by phone by calling 250-426 SEAT or out of town at 1-866-580-SEAT. To reduce expected congestion at the Rec Plex box office for opening weekend, several hundred good seats will also be sold at the Key City theatre box office as well, in Cranbrook but they will be cash sales only so concert goers electing to use the Key City box office are asked to make note of that.

Ticket prices for this event will be $68.50 and $58.50 depending upon seating (HST and service charges additional). Only 3200 tickets will be sold for this concert so patrons are advised to purchase tickets early to avoid disappointment for this once in a lifetime-type event for the Kootenays. A maximum of eight tickets per individual purchase will be in effect  for this show.

Bob Dylan Live in Concert is a presentation of the Kootenay Concert Connection and the City of Cranbrook. Media sponsors include the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, the Daily Townsman (Black Press Group) and E-Z Rock (West Kootenay).

I figured it had to do with crossing over the Canadian borderline afterwards. Sweet song, yes, would like to hear it again.

Aww, man! Well, not a bad place to be if you can't make it across the borderline that separated you from he. Should be fine now unless they stop you at Missoula City Limits.
