I don't know if anyone else has done this, be here goes:

I've just had a musical revelation. I finally have earned an appreciation for the voice that sounds like gravel in a blender. I recently relistened to all of his albums since Oh Mercy and was blown away. I've always thought that they were little more than average and wasn't impressed. But after I listened to TTS I was seriously hooked. I must've replayed the album 4 times the other night. I don't know what took me so long to understand the genius, but I certainly do now.

Anyway, I wanted to start listening to some shows and have no idea where to start. What I'd like for you loyal listeners of the NET to do is compile one show for every year. What year is the best? What's your personal favorite show? What boots sound the best? What shows have the greatest diversity of songs?

If you're up to the task, thanks in advance!

One show from every year of the NET

Impossible...

One hundred shows show from every year of the NET...

May be able to do this but it would be difficult.

Like untroddenpath said this would be a serious undertaking.
But, why not start by listening through as many shows as you
can obtain from the start of the NET onwards?
Here's a good download link i posted that includes the very
first NET show from 1988.
There are better shows than the collection here, not that these
are poor, but there's still more (lots more) from 1988 to investigate.
If you work through this link, and enjoy the shows, i'll put up a
similar one for 1989 for you and then you can go from there?
Upto you :)

12 shows from 1988

I'd recommend starting with compilations of various years until you find a year you like, and then explore that year deeper.

Thousand Highways is a great resource for many compilations: http://thousandhighways.blogspot.com/

You really like "Silvio," don't you?

How about one song from every year? It could be a relatively painless way to chart Bob's progress from barking to whining to crooning to growling to coughing to whispering.

Nobody likes 'Silvio' - not even Bob.

Silvio's mom still loves him, and that's all that matters.

It took me a while to try and answer this properly.
The following list is merely based upon the shows i have heard,
there may be better shows, maybe not, but i can only answer
your question based upon the shows i own;

1988-10-13 Upper Darby
1989-10-29 Ithaca
1990-02-08-London-Hammersmith
1991-06-16 Stuttgart
1992-05-09 San Jose
1993-09-12 Great woods Massachusetts
1994-02-16 Hiroshima
1995-06-21 Philadelphia
1996-07-08 Passariano
1997-12-08 Irving Plaza
1998-06-03 Berlin
1999-11-18 Amherst
2000-09-25 Portsmouth Guildhall (Second Evening)
2001-11-23 Portland
2002-02-02 Tampa Florida
2003-07-13 Casper Wyoming
2004-11-03 West Lafayette
2005-11-18 Birmingham
2006-04-03 Stockton
2007-04-19 Dusseldorf
2008-06-11 Salzburg
2009-05-06 Dublin
2010-06-18 Parma Italy
2011-10-09 Glasgow Scotland
2012-10-08 Saskatoon Canada
2013-10-13 Waterfront Stockholm
2014-04-04-Zepp Divercity Tokyo
2015-10-05th 6th-Waterfront, Stockholm, Sweden
2016-10-22 Thackerville

I haven't been able to spend the time listening through this years shows
in any great detail yet, but i hope the above list helps, even if these concerts
wouldn't be your choice of best show per year, i don't think any of the above
could be described as poor shows, but these are my favourites anyway.
Of course i'm trying to add to them all the time so this kind of list is never
definitive for those of us who are collecting as many shows as we can.
