Hey Feet of etc - I really think you'd love multiple shows right now cos the Dylan live thing today is right up there with 95 and 2000. I saw a buch of shows in April - probably like you did- and the diiference between April and the 3 shows I saw in Chicago a week or so ago is like the difference between Knocked Out Loaded and Blood on the Tracks. With Charlie doing his thing and having the freedom to do it, the band has really come alive, Bob is obviously lovin it and his vocals have been strong, focussed and committed.

I have enjoyed some of the recordings, the first LA gig was great as Dylan can possibly be these days.

Only one so far, which was:

08/29/89 in Las Cruces, NM

I think he was touring and playing with that guy who had been the SNL guitar player, but I could be wrong. I can't remember the guy's name.

I've seen 43 shows beginning with San Jose California in 1965 up to November 10 2009 in Berkeley. That number includes the Last Waltz concert and his appearance at a Bridge School Concert in the late 80's..I also attended the infamous "Jesus" shows at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco as well as the "Retrospect" shows at the same venue the following year when he brought a guest just about every night of the week-long run. Guests like Jerry Garcia,Maria Muldhar,Roger Mcguinn and the last appearance of Mike Bloomfield. I saw the 78' tour. I've traveled to Los Angeles, Reno, Los Angeles and Paso Robles to see shows as well. Probably the best experience were the 2 shows in 2000 at the tiny Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium. It was like a dream.

Yeah, I think you're right, 'tellme. . .'

Thanks!

Sadly though, the accoustics in the auditorium that this took place in was sub-standard at best. The sound quality was horrible. And on a sidenote, I think Dylan broke a guitar string during a song, and kind of got rather pissed. Though he never really did seem very happy to be there the entire time he was there. I don't think he ever addressed the crowd the entire evening. Didn't even crack a smile the whole entire night, at least not that I can recall now.

I would have loved to have seen him either in the 60's or 70's live. But I was too young then :(

Hey behind_blue_eyes, perhaps we saw each other in MO or NM? who knows, probably not. Good shows either way, especially Kansas City

I loved the kansas city show; just Dylan, no crappy opening bands, it was perfect, plus i was right upfront on the floor. I didn't like the abq show as much...ppl got too angry at me when i wanted to stand up. stupid ppl!

Hmmmm...abq, really, that's my hometown. Kinda wish I'd been at that show. I don't think he goes there very much. But from what you said, maybe its better I didn't though :?

Albuquerque show was good enough. Willie Nelson and Mellencamp kinda bogged down the show a bit. I agree with behind_blue_eyes (aka my beautiful wife) that Kansas City was even better. 2000 people in a small little theater and right dead center about three people back. I also agree that he should lose the opening bands. I wish he'd always just come out and start.

Howdy, new here.

I got the pleasure of seeing him April 2006, my senior year of high school in April as a graduation present at the New Orleans Jazzfest.

I also saw him this past July at the Ampitheatre at the Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama.

I'm stuck inside of Mobile myself, and he hasn't played here since 1997!

I've heard tell of many groups here in Mobile, one of which called themselves the Bobcats. Legend has it, the'd sit around drink beer, trade bootlegs, etc.

But when I turned 21 this year, and actually able to set foot into a bar, no such group can be found!

The Orange Beach show was great, I talked to someone from backstage. He told me, "I've been working with him for fifteen years, and he's never signed my autograph, hell I can't recall him ever speaking to me." We then got to spy him and some of his band at Wafflehouse drinking coffee and talking late AM! My stomach fell into my knees and it seemed like everyone eating there had no clue what was going on!

My husband Hank and I bought 4 tix for this show. He died on the 6th. Funeral services were the day of show. I took my sister, brother and son, Kendrick(5). Hank wanted to see Bob in Lowell again. He had been at the RTR shows there. It was general adm on the floor? I remember putting Kendrick on my hip and made my way to the front.. plopped him on the rail, at some point Bob leaned over and gave him a little pat and thumbs up.
Ive seen him:
10/30/92 tent at endicott? coll, in beverly ma we took our 72 green satellite (we named it the satellite of love)
9/12/93 not a fave,
10/2/94 amhearst in a gym, wicked fun. we were wasted, good looking, and young.
10/7,8,9/94 the orpheum shows in boston. really wicked fun. Mike Stipe was at two of those. that was the pinnacle of the rebirth.
6/16/95 harborlights in boston, that was fun. I was 7 mos pregnant.. I had the good seat in the third row, but had to keep going to the ladys room. I walked back to my seat one of these times, along the front, and I mustered up courage enough to wave to him, as he sang sans guitar. He toodle oo-ed back, and I was so happy, but then the first four rows started laughing, I looked up and he was gesturing a kind of "its not my fault" kind of thing, then quickly stopped and waved to me again. so I played along... blew him a kiss. Then he clutched his heart. brush with greatness. Hank was so proud, he called everyone he knew the next day.
4/12/97 Bentley coll waltham. not memorable, but we were older than every one there, and since Hank always looked and dressed like "somebody" we only had to excuse ourselves to get up front.
4/15/97 Northampton Ma Smith Coll.
Hank was getting sicker after this year. I couldnt imagine going to a show without him.
So I didnt.
its been 9 yrs since Henri died. I'll think about seeing a show this yr. Fall tour?

You have my deepest sympathies on your loss.

What some great concert memories except getting wasted for a concert. Why would anyone want to deaden their senses at a concert? Not me, I want to hear and feel every note and lyric and see every expression.

I do not remember the years, but I remember the places I have seen Dylan perform.
Alpine Valley East Troy,WI with G E Smith- a great concert
Marcus Amphitheater- Steve Earl opened for Dylan - the sound system
was terrible

Brown County Arena- Green Bay, Wi it was great 1st time, the 2nd time too many people were torching up during the concert. I say do that on your own time , give the man respect and listen to him ,already!

Kolf Center Oshkosh,WI it was so so I was not impressed with his keyboard work since I could not hear it and he placed himself on the side like he was not the front man for the concert
I will see him anytime I have the opportunity to do so.
