I see from the latest ISIS update that there are rumours of a Christmas album. What do you think will get included on it - new songs or renditions of Christmas favourites. Personally I'd like to hear Dylan's take on some carols.

what Isis reports is that it may be out around christmas time and is the reason Together Through Life was brought forward but the original Dr Filth may know more than I do.

It was rumored and written that Bob recorded some Christmas songs back in the mid 80s but nothing ever appeared. With any luck he will release them or record some for release. The world has been waiting long enough. Maybe he'll even pen a few of his own. That would make it all extra special! :D

Can you imagine Silent Night...
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing...
White Christmas...
Here Comes Santa Claus...
Run Rudolph, Run?

The list goes on. And with any luck he'll play guitar and harmonica. There really aren't enough Christmas songs with harmonica in, you know?

Well if this is true, this is really exciting! I imagine him doing great Christmas related ballads in his old crooner voice (e.g., beyond the horizon).

It also suggests that Dylan is feeling pretty good in the studio these days. I really hope this is the real deal and continues recording.

I so hope this is true! It's something I secretly hoped he'd do at one point. It could be something similar to Hank Williams' gospel and spiritual recordings or Little Richard's first two gospel albums "Pray Along With Little Richard Vol. 1 & 2". The songs played in the "Bible" and "Christmas" editions of Theme Time Radio Hour might also provide clues as to possible influences.

This comes up every so often . The rumour mill in the past hass suggested a Christmas Album exists with songs like "Frosty The Snowman" and "Silent Night"
Put it in the category of it is never going to happen.

This is the info from isis website:

8Did Dylan record an album in May (and was it a Christmas album)?
A month or so ago, there was a rumour that, following his European tour earlier this year, Dylan had gone into a studio to record another album. This was surprising in itself, given that "Together Through Life" had only just been released, but what was even more surprising was the suggestion that this would be a Christmas album. At the time, we could get no substantiation of the story and, not wishing to spread a rumour for which there was no additional information, chose not to include it in ISIS magazine or on the ISIS website. In the hope of receiving feedback/confirmation, we did, however, print this rumour in our ISIS newsletter (June 2009). Since then, we have received more snippets about this initial rumour. While we cannot reveal the nature of, nor the source of, these snippets, we now feel there are sufficient grounds to go public.

We have also linked these various bits and pieces of information to another, earlier, rumour. Around the time that "Together Through Life" was about to come out, it was said that its release had in fact been brought forward from the originally slated date, namely this coming autumn. We wondered why and now think we have the answer.

We cannot guarantee that these reports will prove to be accurate but this is the way it seems to us:-

Dylan and Sony are planning to release a Christmas album later this year. There is no indication whether this album will consist of Christmas standards, Dylan originals or a mixture of the two.

Anyone who can add further substantiation to this story or can provide additional information is invited to contact ianwoodward9@aol.com.

'Christmas album' horror... yer all bonkers. Bob please tell them it isn't true. Nice new album of original non-snowy songs please. OK? Or songs with snowy lines like in 'Tell Old Bill' which is truly wonderful.

It'll probably be all "originals" but some will be traditional Christmas songs that he'll try to pass off as his own.

A Bob Dylan Christmas

1. Jingle Bells
2. Silent Night
3. Bob Dylan's 115th Christmas
4. Let It Snow
5. Winter Days
6. Joy to the World
7. A Hard Snows A Gonna Fall
8. Highway 61 Replowed
9. Jingle Bell Rock
10. Seeing the Real Santa at Last

All words and music written by Bob Dylan

I think Christmas is a great backdrop for some truly depressing songs.

Doesn't have to be all sugar plumbs and stockings.

I think it could be very interesting.

Time out of mind set during the snowy season please
