This here is a handmade
vision of Bob, so to speak. It’s the first time ever I attempted to draw him and I have to say, I’ve never put so much effort into a drawing. I feel like my head is about to explode, because I stayed up all night to finish it. It really is something quite special for me.
Having said that, I’d like to dedicate this work to someone I met exactly six months ago at a Dylan show. We got along so well in the beginning and had so much fun, and then I screwed everything up because … well, because I was an absolute idiot. I acted like a total jackass to her, not because I didn’t like her, but because I liked her just way more than I should have. I know she can’t forgive me, but, if she reads this, I would like her to know that I’m really sorry for my stupid behavior, and that I, that I miss her and all the fun we had before I ruined it all. So, yeah, this pic is for her.
that is a phenomenal drawing Railroad - nice use of tonal range - and nice work on the hands and face - the two most difficult parts. the shirt is fantastic too! you could probably push the shadows more, that may help getting some detail in the pants and making the hat fit on the chair more... Hope that girl gets to see this. but don't look for a clear answer either way...
my wife was very impressed when she found out I drew, and when i made my first drawing for her, she didn't receive the gesture well. i drew my front porch, a spot i often enjoyed and sat eagerly waiting her arrival when she would come to visit - and she later said about the drawing, 'you drew me a chair.' (She never heard of Kosuth apparently). luckily i married her, and now the drawing is mine again, and i can keep it in my own keepsake pile. (which she asks me to clean up from time to time)
i think the moral of the story is, if you develop your art and are less hung up on relationships....eventually the right person will stick around!
now, as for the rest of this thread activity - i may come back and visit - if we call for moratorium on quoting images of bob from the eighties with his chest showing...once is and was enough! the photographic record that it happened is excessive! reproducing the photograph is a crime upon society! perhaps you can reference it like....hairy chest number 1, or tight appendage number 35, etc....
