I'll rep the smallest group so far - 1980s.

I can't remember a time I didn't know of Bob Dylan or think he was good. He was so ubiquitous in American culture when I was growing up in the 70s, some songs were already familiar to me at the point I started forming permanent memories. But I recall buying my first LP (Greatest Hits vol 2) in 1985, out of a used, budget bin in our local independent record shop. When I got home and dropped the needle onto "Watching the River Flow," I was immediately transfixed. If I had wings and I could fly...

By the same time the next year, I'd seen my first three concerts and was a fan for life.

I guess I was always a Dylanfan since he started off, but I did not notice him really until Infidels camed out in September 1983 I think I became a hard core Dylan fan with Infidels, and then I saw him live June 1984 in Copenhaguen and oh boy did I suffer back then, but it all kind of wore off (thank God for that), and he became an ordinary but still very special guy to me. Sadly a guy that I do not understand much at all, if anything about? So things changes back and forth in my book. :)

I think maybe when I really liked Knocked Out Loaded, then I knew I was a real fan. In a way, I think that it's only people who like Knocked Out Loaded who are really real fans. You've crossed a line once you start appreciating that album!

Brownsville girl is a great song and it's on that album. For me it is easy to be a fan then cuz I appreciate that album as well...I might skip the songs until I get to Brownsville though. :)
