My two favorite Dylan records of the 70s were Blood on the Tracks and the Pat Garrett soundtrack.
"Heavens Door" was a genuine hit record after a long dry spell in the early 70s for Bob. A Bangla Desh appearance, and those two singles "River Flow" and "George Jackson", but they didnt get the big airplay on AM like "Door".. And the sound of the record, "heavens door" was sublime and instantly accessible, memorable.. Dylan sounded great on it.
The soundtrack album to me is due for upgrade. Tracks like "Billy Surrenders" and the outake "Rock Me Mama" (used as basis for the hit "Wagon Wheel") should see light of day on an official release. Also there is an instrumental version of "door" which could be added, and who knows what else could be found and used.
Sure there are a lot "Billys" on it, but the extra tracks would diminish the excess of these tracks that gave a lot of listeners ammo to diminish this work,

A cleaned-up extended all-outtake-inclusive Pat Garrett would go over well here.
There's plenty of instrumentals that weren't released.

I have to agree with both of you--I've long been fond of the Pat Garrett outtakes, but there's so much studio chatter it's hard to just hear them as songs. I'm working on a compilation of the best takes and versions of each song, with as much studio talk as possible cut out.

I'd prefer Saved, Shot, Empire, and Red Sky although admittedly you can find some of these on vinyl for not very much.

Sweet Amarillo? Well after listeing to it I know why it wasn't released. It is half-baked, poorly recorded baffling effort. But hey if you want Pat Garrett Reissue with it it's ok with me.

Nice to know, Archie. I think this album is under-appreciated but I've enjoy it alot. I don't even know if I have it on CD at them moment but I have my original vinyl copy.

Definitely would love a Pat Garrett reissue. That and all the other albums that for whatever reason haven't been remastered yet.
