And what about the magic... i just can't understand why do i get in in old records, in old footages and i don't at a live show in 2008, in the second row of the fan zone? in fact, i have no answer.

Maybe you caught him on an off night, Sonia. Time to give him another shot.

Maybe i have to consider to go to some other country at his show.... I'm affraid he'll never come back after having seen the half-empty Ice Palace four years ago.

Well sonia, your honesty is quite refreshing. Being somewhat older, and literally growing up on the music of Bob Dylan, I am in complete sympathy for those who lust for the good ole days. Bob's voice in the early days was unbelievable. There are many here who claim to prefer the present incarnation, and that's great. I think his writing is still top shelf and pure Dylan. When I talk about the "magic" that still permeates from his shows, it's not something tangible you can label or point to. It's simply in the air and consciousness of everyone there. I guess, really, and most appropriately, the only way to accurately describe it is to borrow and slightly change some words from the wizard himself -

"As I went out one evening, to breathe the air around Bob Dylan..."

And I guess I should add, to turbo charge the whole experience, a joint of some nice high test works wonders!

I think thats simply the atmospheric pressure caused by thousands people trying desparately not to cry and laugh at the same time.

You're the best Benny! You might be right.

Another analogy I like is from the great movie "Amadeus", about the life of Mozart. There was this jealous Bishop who was deeply offended by the success of Mozart, and couldn't believe God had endowed such a crude being with such gifts.

I've always associate Dylan with Mozart - as the character from this movie, not as the historical man.

Excellent. See, I tuned in on a thing we have in common! And I agree. I took a college course in classical music once, and I remember the professor referring to Mozart as the "Supreme Architect of music". The music just flowed from him like water from a faucet. And in Bob Dylan, we have seen the exact same thing.

That was a song that took me a long time to write. Dylan and I were having coffee the day after his concert in Paris a few years ago and he was doing that song in concert. And he asked me how long it took to write it. And I told him a couple of years. I lied actually. It was more than a couple of years ... Then I praised a song of his, "I and I," and asked him how long it had taken and he said, "Fifteen minutes." [Laughter]

A Mozart&Salieri story :D I mean, in fact, Salieri was a very good composer, he worked hard all his life, he was a brilliant teacher, he taught the music to Beethoven... but he wasn't Mozart.
