You have 3 cds to cover 1985 to the present. As with Biograph pt1, the collection would not be chronological, as with part 1 it would include unreleased recordings but that material would not be the focal point, let's say maxing out at 25% (I'm not sure what the ratio was on the original). Live versions of older songs would be allowed, but would make up no more than half of the unreleased music, the original doesn't offer a guideline for that, but I'm starting the thread so what the hell. You can assume there will be a separate NET box of at least 100cds anyway.

GO!

Good idea, but although the first one was released in 1985, it only covered up to 1981's Shot Of Love, so we shouldn't forget the riches of 1983.

I'll give it a thought. Are you going to compile it?

Too much officially released stuff to compile, except maybe for my own use.

It's around... But this is mostly for released stuff, in my view, and it certainly won't become a big fandango of a poll

It'd be hilarious to start it off with Neighborhood Bully (what a nice hook for a Dylan novice). Then follow it with Clean Cut Kid.

And end the whole set with They Killed Him. I don't know, maybe find some room for Nettie Moore somewhere in between there.

Maybe Trust Yourself would set the tone better 8) Any good live versions of that with Petty?

Nice list! No two people would ever agree on all choices, but I have to say this:

Yes, it's wonderful, isn't it?
Do you like the '92 Black Muddy River?

Agree, amazing list... and one we'd never see anything close to released by Columbia/Sony. I'm sure they'd include Someday Baby though. And a live version of Rainy Day Women.

Tryin' To Get To Heaven, Sugar Baby, and Huck's Tune would have to make it on there for me, in addition to many others...

I don't remember it very well, to be honest.

I agree, it would have to be considerably longer than Biograph pt1!

Thanks :D That was nice. That linked to a real good Long Black Coat from Padova last year...and I clicked something else and then I ended up with A Change Gonna Come:

At this rate I may not get around to making my own list (which is quite alright by me).

Exactly like Tell Tale Signs...ok, perhaps some Infidels outtakes and Dead Rehearsals and much, much, more NET and "LAT" outtakes too!!

Please, please, please no more greatest hit or near-greatest hits albums! The saturation point on those was reached years ago. I'd rather see a continuation of the Bootleg Series. And if it's out takes, then something like Tell Tale Signs works. That is a fine box set of outtakes smattered with a couple of live versions.

I'm with you all the way, Barefoot...but it's just a geekish excercise, I don't expect they'll actually do it. At least not any time soon.

If they must release something besides am actual new album, they should release this:

bobschool wrote:

Scott Warmuth should interview Bob

and Fred Dreamtime make the video of it, Neo-Pennebaker style

on a ragged yacht in some stormy sea, lopsided shots, jagged cuts

and half sentences heard above the surf, whole truths drifted down like feathers

No, they probably won't do it. But it is fun to speculate.

I know that it's a 60s song--but Hard Rain from Nara would be a nice inclusion. (so would Restless Farewell from the Sinatra thingy) If you're going to tell the story of Bob since the mid/late 80s, it makes sense to include reinventions of older material.
