On the weekend I was involved in an all night Dylan marathon at a radio station to celebrate Bob's Birthday - the marathon has been going now annually for 28 years.

The second half of the show is devoted to song requests. In previous years there has been a lot of 'Tangled Up In Blue' 'Don't Think Twice' etc etc (nothing against these songs but, you know, they get played a lot).

I thought it was interesting to note which albums were the most requested this year (as in, songs from these albums were requested the most)

1) Oh Mercy
2) Tell Tale Signs (particularly Disc 1)
3) Street Legal

We received not one request for Together Through Life.

Tonight. Any of those right? :)

Together Thru. Life wasn't the only album that didn't receive any requests...was it?

No, just thought it was interesting to have no requests from the most recent album (of originals). We also had no requests for anything from Self Portrait, Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid, Dylan, The Basement Tapes [I know right!], Empire Burlesque, Down In The Groove, Good As I Been To You, World Gone Wrong, Time Out of Mind [!] or Christmas In The Heart. Everything else got at least one request.

And yeah, you got those three songs right, but also lots of others :)

No requests from nine or ten albums out of all he's put out... Not too shabby. Nothing from Time Out of Mind is the biggest surprise to me. I would have thought someone would have requested Must Be Santa, if nothing else, just to see if you'd play it. The song is certainly not what most people have in mind when they think of Dylan... and yet, Christmas In the Heart is so-o-o-o Dylan in every way.

I would be interested in seeing which songs people actually requested. Is that available somewhere?

This was in Australia.

No official list of most requested songs but from memory the ones people asked for quite a few times were 'Mississippi,' 'Ring Them Bells,' 'Jokerman' and 'Masters of War.'

All good songs and deserving of requests.

Thanks

With 5-6-700 songs, the sky could be the limit but out of curiosity... anything completely unexpected?

Nashville Skyline Rag and Neighborhood Bully were pretty unexpected requests
