Here's one of my favourites . One of the last scenes of Wim Wender's The American Friend . Ripley ( hopper ) is singing i pity the poor immigrant while Jonathan ( ganz ) dies . I really love this film , and i think Hopper is the best possible Ripley . Besides , i'm pretty sure Ripley would listen to Dylan

Steve Earl's musician character says ''Bobby Zee got their first'', in an episode of the television series Treme after a protege writes a song with a similar tune to Don't Think Twice.

Ironically, Bob's song was based on a melody taught to Dylan by folksinger Paul Clayton. As well, he took a couple of lines from Clayton's Who's Goin' to Buy You Ribbons When I'm Gone? which was recorded in 1960, two years before Bob wrote Don't Think Twice.

Alfonso Cuarón's children of men , final scene . The first baby after 20 years named after Bob Dylan , how cool is that? Teo ( Clive Owen ) had named his baby after Bob Dylan when he was a hippie or an activist or something . His baby had died years ago . Just before Theo dies , Kee tells Theo she will name her baby Dylan after his son . 8)

Saw a very enjoyable film called "Bob Roberts". The main character's, who's a folk singer, career has a lot of resemblances to Bob's. He even releases albums like "The Freewheelin' Bob Roberts" and "Bob on Bob".

I like near the of the Wanderers where I forgot the main character's name, but he's walking down a street and sees a coffee club or something, and there's just a shadow of man (Bob Dylan) singing The Times They Are A-Changin' it's a great scene.

Love the scene in Almost Famous when William chides Russell for hanging with Bobby while Penny Lane almost dies from a quaalude overdose.

Anybody here seen The Music Never Stopped? The son in the movie is a huge Dylan and Grateful Dead fan. Plus, Mr. Tambourine Man, Desolation Row, and I Threw It All Away get played in the movie

Thanks, I watched it and I liked it, they must have spent a ton on getting all those music rights.

Another film I've already mentioned in a different topic - "Kisses". Features "Shelter from the Storm" & "Highway 61 Revisited" and features Stephen Rea as "Dylan": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov6Wve7LCzQ

A couple references that are usually overlooked is in the movie "Titanic"- of all things.
In the card playing scene early in the flick Jack quotes "Like A Rolling Stone", "when you ain't got nothing, you got..." and when he strolls with Rose on deck he states he's like a tumblweed, "blowing in the wind"... I have to assume these were intentional..

"Blow" with Johnny Depp playing a drug dealer...when he appears in court, he asks the
judge if he can address the court and starts reciting from "It Ain't Me Babe.".....

" I crossed an imaginary line with a bunch of plants. I mean, you say I'm an outlaw, you say I'm a thief, but where's the Christmas dinner for the people on relief? Huh? You say you're looking for someone who's never weak but always strong, to gather flowers constantly whether you are right or wrong, someone to open each and every door, but it ain't me, babe, huh? No, no, no, it ain't me, babe. It ain't me you're looking for, babe. You follow?"

I always think that the Tom Cruise movie Vanilla Sky had a load of subtle Dylan references and imagery.

Since I'm a big film buff this thread is a hoot for me.

Stand-up comedian Dylan Moran's last routine had a part about folk music and he said "Cross-Eyed Mary of the Lowlands", I thought that was highly amusing.

A movie I saw recently called "Another Side of Paradise" ended with "Every Grain of Sand" and some covers of his songs were played throughout the film.

Cameron Crowe movies often reference Dylan. In his latest ("We Bought a Zoo") "Buckets of Rain" is featured and a kid is asked if he got his name after Bob Dylan. "Vanilla Sky" references the "Freewheelin'" album cover:

In the Michelle Pfeiffer film "Dangerous Minds" Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" and "Let Me Die in My Footsteps" are discussed among students.

In a Season 4 episode of "Criminal Minds" Bob Dylan is quoted. "Shelter from the Storm" plays at the end.

In the first Chipmunks movie there is a Dylan poster in their apartment... and in the Charlies Angels movies, Drew Barrymore's character is called... Dylan!

I didn't see the movie and don't recall the name (girlfriend told me about it). But a few years back there was a movie with Zach Galifianakis (not sure I spelled that right) where he was a patient in a hospital and he said really clever things all the time and a character comments "Wow he's so wise, how does he come up with that stuff?" and someone else answers "He's just quoting Bob Dylan all the time"

It's from It's Kind Of A Funny Story. They also quote the line from It's Alright, Ma, "He not busy being born is busy dying"

I can't abide Cameron Crowe's movies - I hated it when Buckets of Rain started during the zoo thing, and when Shelter from the Storm played at the end of the Tom Cruise vehicle. It just made the songs into crap movie soundtrack fodder. One at least decent movie featuring Dylan songs was Wonder Boys.

As regards Dylan references, I recall in the Meg Ryan movie French Kiss, she is having trouble understanding Kevin Kline's French accent when he says 'Berb', and he explains it's like 'Berb Dylan'... I love that movie (guilty pleasure).

Not a full length feature film, but Dylan's all over "Mad Men."

Poor Don. He deserves what he gets, but you still feel for the guy.

I was watching Natural Born Killers, and they played Bob's cover of "You Belong to Me" really softly in the background, but I knew the croak when I heard it.
