I went to both the Melbourne and Sydney shows this year and LOVED both of them.

I usually enjoy the first show I see more than the subsequent shows when I see Bob play in a row, and the same was true this year. Melbourne was just awesome and the Sydney show was just a notch under that in my opinion but I think this is a natural consequence of me being more hyped for the first show. Sure Bob's voice is a bit croaky at times but he still delivers the goods.

I live in Brisbane and it was almost a 4,000 kms round-trip drive to see Bob this year. And worth every cent!

Great stuff...That's the kind of contribution I enjoy reading !!

I think that there wil be next year far less schows. Perhaps only 40 or the end of the NET.
Everyone who is objectiv sees that Bob still got it and sometimes nails it but his voice is really getting to an end. I know the always yessayers think differently but its obvious.
We had not only less shows, but also the samiest setlists ever since beginning of the NET. (And the argument that he doesn't play for the die hard fans, don't work because he never played for them but changed his setlist)
Bob has (although many still like it) the most broken (not terrible) voice since ever.

There are few possibilities:
1.) No shows next year (would be the best to recover a bit)
2.) All shows with supporting act (Shortened set)
3.) Very few shows (perhaps something special)
4.) I hope but not think that we will get a new album (CITH is his swan song)
5.) Chronicles II is very likely next year, because of the contract, also a new Bootleg series (perhaps the video,Blu ray)
6.) 100 shows, new setlists, new band (please bob kick Charlie out)

Also the Double with MK looks like a long dream combo for him. (REMEMBER IT WAS BOB WHO ASKES HIM) Perhaps it's his way to say farewell for a while.
All looks like there will be smaller tours. Face it he is 70. He has more fun than ever, but his voice don' go with it. HE can't do anymore or longer shows.

Still on the road next years will bring lesser shows and more static setlists

, but as everyone has mentioned; it's something about his performances, even if he get relatively the same songs; their presentation is just breathtaking, but like I've mentioned; we shall see what he announces in the hopefully near future.

Breathtaking only if you never seen any other shows of the NET 1988-2008. It's good but even the performances and phrasing is starting to get the same every performance. That was never since 1961.Not only his setlist is static, the performancce too.

If there is a tour next tour, I think it will start in April/may and we will getting the dates in December/January or the better end of next year for a small Tour 2013.

What have ya done for me lately, Bob!? Us freeloaders are getting a bit tired of all these samey setlists. Ok, so we didn't, like, actually pay for many if any of these shows we're complaining about, but what would you have us do? Not listen to our pirated music? Please. You misunderstand the nature of compulsion. If I don't listen to Highway 61 on each and every tape, the voices sexually harass me in the dark!

The following years shows usually get announced in December, but I'm hoping it will be a bit earlier this year!

What are we all talkin' about? Only 90 shows from Bob this year???
Name me ten performers that did 90 shows in the last 3 years... Plus, we are talking about a 70 year old man. And he travels all around the world , when he could go on holidays for the rest of his life . He's Bob Dylan! He doesn't have to work! What are we complaining about? He doesn't change his setlists? But of course he does! Should he stop playing LARS bacause we have too many bootleg recordings of it? I'm truly grateful that he's still around :)

he is getting a little old to keep up 120 shows a year...that sort of expectation is unfair

a lot of good points Maria :D

I know we know his voice is nothing like earlier, but we still LOVE him and we have to praise him :)

I just hope he continues to tour next year & we get some date announcements relatively soon.

Who else is doing that at 70+ years, besides maybe BB King or Chuck Berry? Bill Monroe did it till he dropped at age 85-ish.
There's probably others...

Willie, of course.

Many artists are very acitve at Bob's age...and I see no hint of him slowing down. Maybe he's only done 90 shows...but he's closing the year on a gruelling schedule. Only poor health will make him slow down markedly over the next several years. Love his voice at this juncture, hate it...love the performances....hate 'em...doesn't matter. It's obviously in his blood. Let's face it..the man is a ham. Add to that...he's an applause junkie. 8)

So true about being an applause junkie.

It was relevant during the Bumbershoot last year. After nearly every song

I wonder how many days he spent travelling here and there. He does journey from A to B like normal people. Nobody beams him up. Ninety shows entails tens of thousands of miles on the road, multiple flights, several time zones and dealing with foreign languages like Scottish. Someone said he should try the tripe, room service sent up a set of bagpipes.

Yeah, Tony Bennett, Ralph Stanley, Buddy Guy, Doc Watson, Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gordon Lightfoot, George Jones, Kris Kristofferson, Wanda Jackson, Loretta Lynn, Chuck Berry, B.B. King are a few that come to mind.
Most don't tour as much as Bob. 90 shows a year, spread out all over the world, is a tall order for a guy in his 70's. IMHO.

in a german-speaking newspaper from Paraguay i just discovered this article: http://wochenblatt.cc/nachrichten/stern ... ingen/6555

personally i doubt that bob will really come to Asunción, however, that might be interesting:

Quote:

(english: one of the main attractions [brought to Paraguay by this event management company] might be Bob Dylan, which is only a possibility at the moment. within 2 months it will be known if Bob Dylan will give a concert in Paraguay. a unique possibility that could come true end of April)

I think, Bob is living his life, he ist not working (at least as long as he finds the strength to live it this way). He doesn't do it for money (although he wouldn't do it, if he wouldn't get a lot of money for it, he doesnn't do it for applause (although he wouldn't do it, if we wouldn't applaud).
I think, Bob's final "Thank you friends" illustrates this. Altough of course, we aren't his friends in the true sense of the word. But on stage he is, where he wants to be together with people, who are interested in his doing more than they are, when listening to MK for example (nothing against MK)
And I think that makes it difficult or impossible for Bob to stop touring; maybe it's the same for some other artists.
Thanks God this seems to be so. I would miss much, if it weren't so.
Nevertheless: At the age of 70 you must slow down a little bit (from 100 to 90, not very much, 10%); I hope, he can go on living this life, as long he has the will to do it.
