Yes, yes, Johanna, you keep going around the houses, saying the same things over and over again! IMO The things you are saying don't reflect very well on Bob as a person and I'm sure you are completely wrong about him pushing Mark away!

BTW I'm sure Mark's decision to tour with Bob had nothing to do with money - it was all about the honour of touring with his hero and Guy has confirmed this many times, including the fact that Bob is the only artist that Mark would open for, because of the great respect he has for him. I think Guy knows just a little more than you about such things, being MK's right-hand man!

I'm quite sure I was there in the front row when Bob was telling Mark to back off. I had front row seats for all eight of the German shows and was standing at the rail for four more. I never said Bob was a nice person. He's probably not. But he's dead honest, and I like that.

Might be Mark's not in it for the money, well then why didn't he play for free? Why the high rise on the ticket prices by some 50% compared to the summer tour? You might not have thought about it this way, but there are businessmen behind the artists, managers and accountants and lawyers, and I doubt that they care about things like perfect artistic matches as long as they can get $$$$$ and €€€€€ to shine in their eyes. These are the rulers of the business. Don't fool yourself into thinking it is the artists who make all the decisions. They're just chess figures.

MK wasn't invited on stage during the first UK shows. So there's no reason why Bob couldn't stop having MK around again. Also does Bob really need to do "good for business" decisions against his will to keep the "train going" ?

We know Bob? Well? How so? As Bob said back around the time of MTV Unplugged, there are a lot of people influencing the decisions of what is the right thing to do. I take this to still be the case. Somebody decided that this was a good idea, and this somebody wasn't necessarily Bob. If you think he's the sole boss of this touring circus.... think again.

LOL Oh so he's not the boss now?

Who is then ?
Jeff Rosen, AL Santos or is it The Baron?

As far as I remember Albert Grossman got to realize who's in charge in the end :D

Johanna, The ticket price was higher for MK fans too! I have never paid more than £43 for the best seats for an MK concert, but this time it was £75, which I pretty much expected to pay, because we had two major artists on stage and I have no complaint about that!

BTW Why on earth would MK do it for free, when Bob would be paid!! Ridiculous! The band, crew, fuel and catering, etc have to be paid also! It's not just BD and MK you know - or have you forgotten everyone else involved in this tour!

I've forgotten noone, and I'm all for paying the band and the crew workers. What I was saying was, Mark really doesn't do it just for the honor, either, and it is stupid to believe he does. If there were no advantages in the tour for him, I doubt he'd be there.

So what you're saying is that these two grown-up multi-millionaires have been paired up together against their will, paraded across Europe like the circus they are and then every night, after the show has ended, they're led back to their cages where they are intentionally starved so that they'll be equally robotic/barky the next night?

Hehe thats a good one... And as an employee you do what you are told by your boss, even after retirement age. :D

BTW I don't think Sony runs his touring business, only his record business.

Well , to be fair , would Bob play for free? Probably not. That doesn't mean that he plays for money...

"I was only following instructions when Doug Morris sent me down the road with Marky Knopfler."

AJW would support this theorie, methinks.

I have no intention of crashing Mark or Guy's forums to read them, let alone force a negative opinion of either of them, over and over. And over. 8)

Well they should be playing for free both of them then. MK has sold over 100 million records and Bob probably as many not mentioning years of touring ...

Think again. Sony owns his song catalogue. He'd have to start from scratch if he didn't play by their rules. Of course, they aren't going to damage the heroic image that people have of him.... people might start to question these things. People want a hero, so they give them a hero.

Lets be honest, just bc you go to 11 shows doesnt mean you know anything about bob as a person, your perceptions are more like delusion, jp. get over it.
i was at most of those shows and also zurich last night and never detected any disdain from bob towards mark. The knopfler part of the show wasnt bad for me and clearly a lot of their fans think its great. different people like different things, so no reason to be disrespectful.

8 + 4 = 12. In my world, anyway.
I never said I knew Bob. I wasn't being disrespectful of anyone. If you can't stand a bit of realism, I can't help it. People around here act like Bob and Mark are long lost brothers or something.... how anyone thinks that this is different from any other package tour is beyond me. Next he might go touring with Joan Baez.

"some of these women they give me the creeps"---i think he looked at you when he sang that line

What's subjective about seeing what I saw and stating it? :? I don't get it.... go on believing that it's all one big happy family. No problem with me.... incidentally, Bob stopped mentioning Mark in the band introductions after the first few times. It's a fact you can get from the recordings. Nothing in the way of, "Thanks so much Mark, it's a great pleasure to have you."
