The website says, "Dylan himself contributes the album’s namesake."

Chances are it's just Another Side's version but...but what if guys...it's a new version!

Could be the Joan Osborne version, too.

I've got their Lennon compilation...

It's somewhere, dusty and played only once.

I think I'll buy this one for:

Patti Smith – Drifter’s Escape
Pete Townshend – Corrina, Corrina
Sting – Girl from the North Country
Mark Knopfler – Restless Farewell
Elvis Costello – License to Kill
Jackson Browne – Love Minus Zero/No Limit
Joan Baez – Seven Curses (Live)
Taj Mahal – Bob Dylan’s 115th Dream
Eric Burdon – Gotta Serve Somebody
Pete Seeger – Forever Young

Too bad they decided to take Baez' cover of "Seven Curses". Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but in my opinion she has done better Dylan covers, such as "Lily, Rosemary & The Jack of Heart" (= amazing!), "Simple Twist of Fate" or "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands".

I've wondered why the staggered release.

Check out My Chemical Romance's version of Desolation Row on Youtube... they do a good, vibrant and fun version... and one that reminded me of Dylan in his 'Hard Rain' tour days!

"Artists linked to the album that did not make the final cut include Rosanne Cash with Larry Campbell, Alison Krauss, the Roots, and Bruce Springsteen."

I would take ANY one of the above over Tom Morello, Gaslight Anthem, Silversun Pickups, Airborne Toxic Event, Queens of the Stone Age, Miley Cyrus, Angelique Kidjo, Sugarland, Carly Simon, Joe Perry, Bad Religion, My Chemical Romance, Band of Skulls, Kesha, Maroon 5, Mick Hucknall, State Radio, Michael Franti or Evan Rachel Wood. And that doesn't even include the 10 or so artists I've never heard of.

Why on earth would you leave off legends like Rosanne, Larry, Alison & Springsteen and include something called "Cage the Elephant" or "the Sweet Tea Project?"

Wow, thank you for the information! I don't really understand that either. Those are some amazing artists ... how they decide to ignore them is beyond me. I mean, for instance, Springsteen toured for Amnesty International in 1988 and even released an EP called "Chimes of Freedom" for them. He definitely would have deserved to be on that record. Hence, what's happening right now with the new record is kind of disrespectful, in my opinion.

i agree with most of the artists you listed here, but for tom morello. he's often only remembered for his involvement with rage against the machine and/or audioslave, but give the nightwatchman a listen. he's incredibly talented, obviously politically motivated (and not just some pop/rock star), and absolutely deserves to be included. even if he's not your cup of tea, he shouldn't be grouped with the likes of miley cyrus and ke$ha.

It's good to see Miley Cyrus and Ke$ha being part of it. Some of their millions of fans might want to check out this old Dylan dude. That'd be pretty good don't you think?

It seems that there will be a new release soon with lots and lots of Dylan covers and tributes. Here's a link to who sings what and all the artists.. there might be more, I don't know.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimes_of_ ... ernational

Might be old news for some, and new for others.. I have never heard of this before, though!

Some that stand out and that I like..

Patti Smith Drifter's Escape
Mark Knopfler - Restless Farewell
Elvis Costello License to Kill
Pete Seeger Forever Young

And then some i'm not really fond with..

Ke$ha Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
Miley Cyrus You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go

I read an article yesterday that said: "Adele will cover Make You Feel My Love, one of his earliest compositions."

Oh dear... good cause and all that, but verging on piffle. Sinead O'Connor NO! on so many levels.

She is far better than Adele & a few other the other no hopers listed on that album track list! i also think her song choice is to be commended
