I wouldn’t be surprised if Bob Dylan headlined the Saturday Isle Of Wight festival, but I would be surprised if he toured with Tom Petty.

I don’t believe the two bands or the crowds they draw would mix well together. Tom Petty shows are tailor made for the masses and Bob Dylan shows are Bob Dylan shows. It’s like putting a freak show section in the middle of Disney World… the different reactions would be interesting, but it wouldn’t make much sense.

I hope Bob Dylan just keeps on doing what he does. Either have no opener or a somewhat obscure opener that makes him and his band stand out more. Besides, the more actual fans at a show, the better.

Classic memory: Standing in a government office in Dhaka years ago applying for a permit of some sort and reading the only poster on the wall. It said, "Bangladesh - Enjoy it before the tourists get here." I wonder if they ever came.

I think Dylan should maybe have a re-think for concerts this year. Not because the current step up is bad (far from it) or anything, but a slight change in direction could work wonders. Maybe less dates, a reworking of the setlist, a change in band personal?

Please don't forget that I confirmed Dylan for the festival in Coachella for 2012 last summer.
