Expecting Rain

I was in my car today, playing Bringing It All Back Home. Even though I have listened to this album countless times, my hair began to stand on end while listening to Mr. Tambourine Man, Gates of Eden and It's Alright Ma. Three pieces of lyrical genius, back to back, and I began to think, is it possible this is the best sequence of three songs on any album?

So, what would you consider the best three songs in sequence from any album? Not necessarily from your favorite album or necessary that the sequence includes your favorite song, only what you consider the best, highest quality works of Bob.

Right now I can't think of another three in a row that can top it.

For me it's the best sequence of four. All of them coming at the same themes from slightly different angles. It's pure, refracted beautious gorgeousness. And the best album side ever!

I actually wrote four at first, then decided to make it three....not sure why I do agree, though I don't have vinyl so I hadn't even thought of those being all on one side of the album. Just brilliant from the first word to the last.

Hmm. And he was 23/24 when he wrote them.

I know! Amazing.

Yes, I agree - those are possibly the very best 3 in a row on an album. But just to keep this going, how about:

Then skip one to Sara. Couldn't be any more magical combination.

But yeah...Bringing it all back home blew my mind when i first heard it, by far the best.

Though it is cheating in a way. This sequence of three plays on a CD, but not the record really. Side 2 begins with I Want You. Glorious on CD, though. The new mono one anyway--which has been stuck inside my car stereo module for 2 weeks now.
