I haven't heard it and unless my library gets it I probably won't - but I'm enjoying seeing others thoughts (there was another thread somewhere). Listening to other people sing Dylan songs is tolerable for 3-5 songs, then I start seriously itching for the genuine article. I think it's cool that such a wide variety of artists took part though, and I hope it gives his music some exposure to people who wouldn't hear it otherwise.

Ya i am still trying to get through it all.. some of it is awful. Some good. But bottom line no one sings dylan like dylan. No truer words were ever spoken.

I wish to listen Patti Smith's version, or Joan Baez' one, or Pete Townshend's one... but not Ke$a nor Adele. Pleeeeese!
So I get my Jolly Roger from my wardrobe, I'm ironing it and I'm waiting for somebody who finaly will share those few tracks.
And, of course, I prefer the original.

The CD is not out yet in Europe, at least I have not seen it, not even on Amazon. I saved much of it though when it was broadcast, and I enjoyed several tracks.
Obviously: Cash - Patti - Baez - Knopfler... but also some very good surprises: Willie mcTell, Love sick, No time to think... I also changed my mind on some 'heavy' stuff like Hollis Brown, it's great, it fits perfectly with the drama of the song. And isn't 115th dream the best rap ever?
Yes there is a lot of meh and some bleah, but for 20 euros or so and a worthy cause I will surely buy it...

An offtopic.
20 euros... And 30 euros for Russia, of course :(
When they fired me, my salary of head librarian was some 550 euros and my husband's senior fellow salary is 450 euros. 1000 euros for two. We pay 100 euros for our apartment, water, internet and so on. 125 euros for eating at home. 250-300 euros for medicines, my physicians and my psychologist (my husband have an assurance at work, so he pays only for medicines). 75 euros for two subvay tickets. 250 euros to pay a debt from our trip to a cientific conference in Italy a year ago. And 150 euros for all the rest. And now I'm fired and I just don't know how much will I earn at my next job.
:D
I prefer books printed on paper and legal cds with booklets, me too. And when I can allow it myself, I buy it.

Out of the 75 songs, there's like 4-5 songs that's listenable.
I didn't know an artist could be covered this badly.

which 4-5?

Johnny Cash & Bob - One Too Many Mornings
Mark Knopfler - Restless Farewell
Adele - Make You Feel My Love
Dierks Bentley - Senôr
Joan Baez - Seven Curses

and I actually think Miley Cyrus did a good one, but other than these..
And that Kesha track is the worst, is she crying? Does she have a cold? Or do she sound like that?

Its an extremely rare occassion that I find a cover of a Dylan song I can listen to more than once. Whatever one may think of Dylan's current vocal abilities or limitations, he still does a better job on his songs than 99.99999999999999% of the people who attempt a cover.

At least I like the cover. Would like to have it as poster.

Of course you could see it like this. But I like the kind of pop-art style.

Well stated. Pretty much captures my own sentiments on the subject.

Don't know what some posters in this thread are on about, but I'm listening to this right now (though not in order) and after about 20 songs from across a couple of the discs I haven't heard a single one I outright disliked. Hell, even the Miley freakin' Cyrus track is not half bad! Now there's something I never thought I'd hear myself say!

I was most impressed with Miley Cyrus.

I downloaded a few of 'em. Persuaded by the singer or maybe the song.

My favorite is "One More Cup of Coffee." It's nothing amazing, but I like to think of it as one of those songs that's so good that it can't be screwed up.

Ah, and the Taj Mahal track is quite interesting.

Elvis Costello's "License To Kill" was a huge disappointment. Don't know why I thought any one could make that song listenable/presentable.

I'm sure lots of us could have compiled a much better, more succinct set of songs given the many different covers available out there. Any takers? I did it once way back in the day after the I'm Not There soundtrack hit the streets.

I posted Elivs' live version of License to Kill from one of his shows last spring. I liked it but generally, I'm not a huge fan of covers. 9 times out of 10 I prefer the original artist performing their own songs. I'll probably download a few tunes but I don't think I"m going to bother picking this one up.

If I were you, I'd check out the tunes on youtube and then determine whether or not they deserve a permanent spot in your music collection.

For the life of me I don't know why anyone would cover "Man In The Long Black Coat" once Mark Lanegan had done so; impossible to top that.

Why bother with photocopies when you own the first editions?

Having said that, I've just dl'd the following to make up one CD:

Johhny Cash
Patti Smith
Pete Townshend
Silversun
Sting
Knopfler
Steve Earle
Elvis Costello
Jackson Browne
Joanie
Adele
Paul Rodgers & Nils
Thea Gilmore
Kris Kristofferson
Pete Seeger
Bob

71 mins!!
