Have you all had a look at the video link of "Ring Them Bells" on the front page? It's from the Supper Club! I didn't know that the video recordings were circulating. Hallelujah! I've played the recording of this which features on Tell Tale Signs to death, it's so great to see the video. Here, look:

Now I really hope for a CD/DVD release of this in the Bootleg series.

There's a link above it for people to vote on facebook for an official release of the Supper Club shows on audio/video. I'm not on facebook so I can't access it, but all you facebooky people, please put a vote in for me.

Thanks. If you allow for your thread title to be changed to notify people of the voting rally, I could do that.

Can you get me the correct link from the front page? Facebook-less me will just be directed to the registration page.

I think it's this:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1258060 ... p_activity

One has to apply for membership, which is granted almost instantaneously. Then you have to enter the actual document, click to edit it, and then write in your own name at the bottom. I don't want to seem negative, but I think it will take some time to get an overwhelming amount of people in on this. I've signed it though!

A CD/DVD package would be sweet. The best version of each song played. It'd look something like this i think:

Absolutely Sweet Marie
Blood In My Eyes
Delia
Disease Of Conceit
Forever Young
I Shall Be Released
I Want You
I'll Be Your Baby Tonight
Jack-A-Roe
Jim Jones
Lay Lady Lay
My Back Pages
One More Cup Of Coffee
One Too Many Mornings
Queen Jane Approximately
Ragged And Dirty
Ring Them Bells
Tight Connection To My Heart
Weeping Willow

Interesting video. Unfortunately you can't see anything, can you? But as he played Tight Connection To My Heart (Has Anybody Seen My Love) in one of those shows it must be a visualisation of this song (They're not showing any lights tonight). But Bob's jacket is not comfortable to look at on the screen anyway.

someone told me the shows were filmed in 16mm.

There is some video on Highway 61 Interactive:

i really like the supper club shows, his voice is a little high pitched and strained, but i can look past that becasue he sounds like he is discovering some of these songs for the first time. i love how he sings "lost sheep" in 'Ring them Bells' :)

but i dislike the video, its so dark! Bob and the boys are skulking around in the shadows! and the camera is constantly moving and never settling on something interesting. Bob's jacket is awful too (he never seems to wear jackets that actually fit him, even to this day) Anyway when i listen to Ring them Bells from this show, it sounds better with my eyes closed.

I actually really like the way it's filmed. Makes it look like an atmospheric scene from a movie, and I think it makes a nice backdrop to the lyrics. If all the other songs are shot and edited in the same way, it'll be a pretty special DVD (in a very good sense).

I think the sets were filmed, not shot on video, though 16mm sounds a bit too amateur for the set up they had. The reason I say film is I saw frequent changes of what I assume were film cartridges at the floor camera in front of me at the first show. I don't think a video shoot would have required any such changes.

The stage was well lit. The house lights were not particularly low. If there is poor quality stuff circulating, it probably does not reflect on what an official release would look like. But I'd be surprised if it does get any release soon, unless Dylan is desperate for product and can't come up with new songs. Still, a "best of Supper Club shows" on cd or dvd could be quite good.

Yes, that would be excellent! I guess it would be too hardcore to release all four shows on four cds and two dvds; great for us, but maybe too much for the casual fan. But does the casual fan buy the stuff from the Bootleg Series? Hm. Anyway, shouldn't an eventual full set also feature the performance of "Forever Young" that he did on the Letterman show the day after the last Supper Club show? Here it is:

Yeah i kinda feel that to release all 4 shows would be overkill. Though a deluxe boxset for the 'must have it all' would be nice too. I'd be happy with one good take of each song i think, i know that i'd listen to it more often than a boxset of all 4 shows.

I'd really like this as the next bootleg release

Given the style of filming/editing, I would also much prefer a nicely edited concert of songs from various nights, than all four concerts. It would be nice to have a concert video with lots of style and atmosphere, rather than a truckload of songs for the sake of documentation.
