Doesn`t he have those ?

I would go for Street Legal next - oh how very controversial - then Time Out Of Mind and Slow Train Coming

Duh.... I misread that. I thought I was to pick from that list which to get next.

In that case, definitely and without any question, TOOM.

Yeah, TOoM or TTAA-C. Think those are both essential Dylan buys before you start getting into the mid/low tier Dylan stuff.

I don't think it matters which one you get next but consider "Knocked Out Loaded" or "Down in the Groove" for your next purchase.

In my opinion you need to get all of these.

Christmas in the Heart
Time Out of Mind
World Gone Wrong
Good as I Been to You

Then (if I'm not mistaken) you'll have everyting since 1992.
This is what you should aim for anyhow as your ultimate goal or at least before getting other stuff.
:)

Tell Tale Signs is my absolute favorite of the bootlegs... I've probably jammed out to that more than any other album..

And I do own Time Out of Mind... I can't believe I forgot that...

If you like TOOM, you'll enjoy WGW and GAIBTY.

If you've already got New Morning and Time Out of Mind, Street-Legal is the big one!

i can't believe it took this long to get World Gone Wrong out there:

Absolutely missing three important holes in your spread right now:

TTS, WGW, & NS.

make that four: time to start filling in that big eighties gap now - > start with INFIDELS,
(again why hasn't this been mentioned?)

you'll need a taste of conversion too: slow train is a good starter, shot of love for dessert.

never mind TTS, i see you have then. so i guess we're back to 4.

ALSO: be sure to check out record stores for their used CD collections. I've been able to find great albums in bulk, imports, and deluxe versions of original releases i hadn't owned (like L&T with the killer Times a changin' ) all for very cheap.

also, if the thread runs long enough, i bet we could get every album listed here - then we'll be right back where you started.

speaking of which, you don't have any BAD dylan albums in your collection. depending on how long you've been listening to him, you may need to rectify that...

hmmm, good question. here's a few different ways you could go...

1. Get the "best" remaining studio album. Of course there is no definitive "best", but Time Out of Mind is by far the most highly acclaimed of the ones you don't have.

2. Get a live album, as there's none on your list. Personally I would recommend Live '66 (bootleg vol 4). Other live albums: Live '75 (bootleg vol 5), Live '64 (bootleg vol 6), Before The Flood, Hard Rain, MTV Unplugged.

3. Delve deeper into whatever period of Bob you like best. If you like the early stuff, go for Times Are A-Changin'. If you like H61 and Blonde, go for Live '66. If you like JWH and New Morning, go for Nashville Skyline. And so on.

4. Fill in the biggest gap in your collection, which looks to be the period from Desire ('78) to Oh Mercy ('89). The one I'd recommend most from that period is Infidels, but everyone has their favorite. Street Legal and Slow Train Coming get a lot of attention too.

Or you could just do it the old fashioned way and go down to the record/CD store and flip through the Bob Dylan section and pick whichever one grabs you.

I have greater priorities in Bob's catalogue but HOW HAS NOBODY MENTIONED BOOTLEG SERIES VOL. 4???!!!!!?!?!? At least I don't think anybody mentioned it yet. For the record, Tell Tale Signs will always be my favourite bootleg. Oops, Russ333 beat me to it as I see now.
