Yup, huh? I've come to like this place. Not sure what it was like on Wed June 14th, 2006, 11:23 GMT, but I feel we've come a long way. Both Senor and Where Are You Tonight come to mind....

Which leads me to an interesting thought:
Are Senor and Jokerman actually the same person/entity?

To my ears, Señor is God. Jokerman is an aspect of Dylan himself.

Both have at one time or another been claimed to be Jesus. This to me makes more sense in connection with Senor, overturning tables and actually walking on earth with someone.

In Spanish, people address the "Lord" as "Señor." It's a word for God in Spanish.

Thanks, yes, I've heard that. Looking at the lyrics though, it seems to be neither totally one or the other.

I guess that's the beauty of Dylan. The ambiguity and the possibility of double meanings and multiple interpretations.

That makes him worthy of discussion, and each of us brings their own ideas and interpretations to his work. It's a wonderful thing to share.

I wouldn't say greatest nor worst. No, definitely not the worst (we've all tasted that Christmas album). It's a good album, though it is a bit inconsistent, I agree, certainly works though. I never regret putting it on.

Gimme a break. Springsteen's got nuthin' on Mr. D.

Well, thanks for those pictures, but what I was saying was that all the characters in "American Pie" are musicians. "The jester played for the king and queen in a coat he borrowed from James Dean" = Dylan, Elvis and Joan. And so forth. Whoever the father, son and holy ghost are, I'd have to look up some interpretations.

The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost in American Pie are often interpreted in the song to be Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and J.P Richardson (a.k.a. The Big Bopper), who were killed when that plane went down in 1959 in Iowa...the day the music died.

Don McLean when asked the meaning of American Pie:

"It means I don't have to work anymore."
