Seems like bobdylan.com is setting up a new site. Hard to get in at the moment, but it is quite different from the old one.

oh yuck. it looks terrible at first glance. it was such a marvelous aesthetic before. if they wanted to open up a news service, they could have done that behind the front page.

Wow. That is severely ugly. I feel like I just got thrown back into the Geocities days. Regardless, the new album news is probably going to break pretty soon, I'm guessing.

Almost no difference when I hit the GEOCITIES-IZER:

I agree, ugly. But one thing I like is the music player and set list top right of page(s)
I'm listening to Journey Through Dark Heat. The set list page seems fairly efficient,
but there is absolutely no possibility of member interaction or discussion on the site.

If not "ugly", at least still "under construction".

Reading Tom Tierney's essay on "House Carpenter", I'm not so sure Dylan heard this song first on the Smith Anthology rather than on Odetta's album which I think he heard before reaching NYC...

Anyhow, thanks, Tom!

We're gonna have massive announcements, I can feel it in the air.

Anyway, I like the tour page.

What the new site lacks in minimalist aesthetic it more than makes up for in the bounty of extra material there is to explore - and I imagine more and more will be added.

What a great resource.

Only gripe is the "hype" page is irritating to browse.

But well done Dyl Inc., I like the new page a lot.

It seems it detects where are You and translates (only some things). I HATE IT. It didn't ask me what language I want and I don't want to read the Bob Dylan official site in spanish. My language is catalan and I know it's not easy to have the site in catalan and I'm not asking for it. Simply they shouldn't think that every country has one only language and let people choose the language. I just "sent feedback" about it and mentioned Bruce Springsteen, who's well aware of the linguistic situation in Catalonia, as I hear him every time he plays here speaking to the crowd in catalan.

I agree.

I wonder if they're adding new areas. The retail merchandise is gone. I never bought anything there but I think it was a nice feature anyway.

seems like a greenhorn mistake for a word traveller and historian.... perhaps they will work out the kinks.

i think they are still building on it. it could be very fine, i hope the put a cover page on it and i will feel better.

i think they have the shopping, boston, on the left column, and there is an annoying little shopping basket in the upper right that evokes amazon. lovely.

I see it only in English... the Spanish version must be only for Catalonia

Might be. Anyway it's sure it's still on the works, because only a few words appear translated.

Anyway, don't misunderstand me. I have no problem in speaking or reading spanish. I just want to choose in which not-my-language I read it and not have the feeling they mistakenly decided to give it "in my language", specially because it's not a "Dylan level" thing.

My first impression: yuck!

My second impression: quite nice, actually!

Now that I have had a closer look at the new website, I do not think that the layout is that bad. I think people do not like it because it is new and different. Give it some time. (By the way, there are some nice new features on it, such as downloads of the sheet music and stuff like that. Pretty neat!)

It's a responsive design (says the web designer :)) It automatically scales to the screen size you are on, desktop, tablet, mobile. Very cool and makes it accessible to all even on the go.

It reminds me of an older website.. I like it. It seems like it will be quicker. I like how websites used to be in maybe.. around the early 2000's.. My idea website would just be a white page with all the words written in black.. like a piece of paper. I seem to go on a lot of websites now and they take ages to load..all kinds of rubbish on them

I agree, reminded me of older version of bobdylan.com mixed with a neilyoung.com "newspaper" type of vibe... I could get into it.
