I've recently grown to appreciate the difference in attending to one side of a record, versus popping in a long CD that i pass in and out of attention with. and many dylan albums seem to be structured around these segments. so, i'm starting a poll series about preferred sides on vinyl. i'm not really centering on the value of any one song over the other, but rather how each side flows and stands coherently.

this poll: PLANET WAVES which side are you on?

also this is a softball warmer for what else is coming this afternoon. some difficult polls on the march.

Another hard decision ... but this time simply because I do not care. I hardly ever listen to Planet Waves. I love Dylan's early 70s stuff (New Morning, Pat Garrett), I love Dylan's mid 70s stuff (Blood on the Tracks, Desire), but Planet Waves ... meh.

I like "Never Say Goodbye" though. Thus, I will go with side B.

much as I like the record, there are three trifles either side so I can't choose

This was the hardest one of all for me. I surprised myself by eventually going with side two. I actually own this one on vinyl, and I've probably listened to side two slightly more often than side one, although I love "On a Night Like This" and really enjoy the 1-2 punch of "Tough Mama" / "Hazel."

This is a great idea for a group of threads, by the way. Makes me want to get out my albums, but it's 11:30 at night & I don't want to wake the house.

Went with side 2 for " You Angel You", "Dirge", and "Wedding Song"......PLUS, this
is my favorite version of " FOrever Young"...got a little Cajun rhythm going there. :D
And i love "Never say Goodbye"........OK, looks like I went with side 2 for ALL the songs....

....but it was a hard call with "Something There is About you"
and "On a Night Like This" on side 1. :?

.....I like PLANET WAVES....!
