Gospel Season is upon us: This survey - Saved. love it, hate it; no matter, rate it. (side by side of course)

I've recently grown to appreciate the difference in attending to one side of a record, versus popping in a long CD that i pass in and out of attention with. and many dylan albums seem to be structured around these segments. so, i'm starting a poll series about preferred sides on vinyl. i'm not really centering on the value of any one song over the other, but rather how each side flows and stands coherently.

Another difficult one ... both sides of Saved suck big time. In my opinion this is one of Dylan's worst albums, probably on the same level as Knocked Out Loaded and Down in the Groove. You would have to give me a lot of money to make me listen to this album again.

However, I guess "Covenant Woman" is not completely abyssmal. Hence, my vote goes to side 1.

well, unlike much of the material of his first few albums, which has some tracks i usually have to skip over, since they are worn out and overplayed, i always find Saved a refreshing experience. This too is a tough choice for me since there are so many transcendent songs, but the problem is, my two least favorite are on two different sides. I will ponder this situation and await guidance before I choose.

the second side is prime gospel

too bad Dylan didn't pay more attention to the recording, just not nearly as punchy as the live performances

The only songs I really like on this album are "Satisfied Mind", "Saved" and "What Can I Do For You?". One of my least favorite albums of Dylan's, but I do enjoy those tracks.

"Saved" is my favorite of Bob's gospel albums...and also one of my favorite albums
of his overall....
- i went with Side 2 because of 'Pressing On' and 'Saving Grace'....
although i would really miss 'Covenant Woman' and 'What Can I do For You !

I love the Saved on the album, the way it sounds like Bob just bounds out and starts punching.(And have never seen a live performance of that one) But even though it's good, the album version of What Can I Do For You is not as dynamic as the one up on Youtube before, with the harmonica solo- That was stunningly beautiful.
But so, still side one.

Surprised that Side Two isn't winning. For me both "Pressing On" and "In The Garden" are really up there - even in their original studio versions. Side One doesn't really do anything for me.
