Yes it would but if it's only festivals I can't see where he could go. I hope for regular shows!

Me too, but I don't think it's going to be all festivals. The German shows aren't either. He could go somewhere in northern Italy, then around Marseille somewhere, on the way to Benicassim.

Yes.... those and Montreux, and waiting for further announcements. Lyon and Bayonne, too.
Do you think we'll get more French dates ?
Yes, on Cote d'Azur after the two Italian dates.

Yeah I guess you're right! But Côte d'Azur is so far for me... Come to Paris Bob (no, no it's not a detour) :)

Okay, I have to leave the computer for a bit on basic survival issues.... save me a spot if anything happens in the meantime.

I'd like to hear Bob do "Lost In The Supermarket" this summer, dedicated to JP... and now back to the regular program.

Which shows will be same day multi-act festivals??? That is, when other bands share the stage on the same day as Bob & band.

Hop Farm, Bena & Carhaix. Others? Montreux?? I don't think so.

Montreux 1998 did have (one) support act. Certainly not a day-long festival line-up, no. The shows in Berlin and Bonn (possibly Dresden & Mergentheim as well) leave room for a support act. Bonn for example has a 7pm showtime and 10pm curfew. Same timeframe for Patti Smith at the same venue, who does have a support act. I'd be great for my travveling plans if the show was over by 8.40pm, but somehow I doubt that.

I'd love to see the Montreux show. I think they announce the festival line-up sometime in April. I'm curious what jazz there will be. Hopefully there're still good bands mixed in.

The first two confirmations point at their most Un-Jazz program ever, with Noel Gallagher and Herbert Grönemeyer. They usually pair a good jazz show with the "pop music" in the main hall, but obviously you can't be at two venues at once. Don't remember who I missed in 1998, but it was sort of a "Dang! I can't believe so-and-so is playing next door and I'm gonna miss it" moment.

I think I read that there's some kind of a jazz cafe used for the festival. I'd probably go there a lot.

There is a pretty famous Sun Ra release from the festival from I think 1976. I might just buy that and call it good.

Are you planning to stay over in Montreux? Be warned it is very expensive.

Be sure to visit the Smoke On The Water sculpture while you're there. Freddie Mercury is nearby, too, for Queen fans.

I got a ticket for Bonn, "front stage" block. My first open air show! I didn't think twice, after the great Luxembourg show last year. Hopefully he'll play one song of his new album in July already...
