A very unprofessional question: why does it take time, actually? I supposed it was recorded. There are so many unemployed people. Why can´t they produce it quicker?

it's a creative enterprise, not an economic one. it takes time to do it properly.

I think these things take time because they need to design a marketing campaign etc. They will also hold albums for release when they feel the time is right for maximum sales/impact. The creation of an album may be a creative act, but the rest is all about the cash.

I am sure that Dylan will be interviewed via satellite by Nicky Campbell on BBC Radio 5 tomorrow morning on the breakfast show... it is rumoured that Dylan will play acoustic versions of three of his new songs from the new album, that will be released here in the UK on Monday.

Dylan is currently on tour but will interrupt the tour to give scottish radio personality, Nicky Campbell, a exclusive scoop and audio taster of the new double-album... the programme starts at 06.00 English time.

Seriously, why would you be mad?

It's gonna be a while until it comes out anyways by the looks of things.
Now you won't have to wait as long as the rest of us schmucks.

I wasn't mad. I was channeling my inner Abe Simpson.......

Now you're thinkin', thick one. It's about time we get a double album before breakfast with some acoustic teasers to boot.

Smoke wrote "...they will also hold album for release when they feel the time is right for maximum sales/impact." Thank you for the answer, I am scared. I know big corporations are greedy. And Bob Dylan is quite old...I wish Bob Dylan would record one extra album which the greedy industry can spare for just that "occassion of greatest impact". How unpolite of the industry. Bob Dylan is healthy and he will live much longer than the industry believe and he can produce a lot of new records.

it should be noted that the only reason we are obsessing is that news was 'leaked' quite early for an album that will probably be out in the fall. Plenty of summer for salivating and getting excited....

really now, there are plenty of new recordings popping up in the rare recording sections, go thank some tapers instead of parsing hairs over false rumors....

I understand from inside sources that the new album thematically and sonically continues and deepends the apocalyptic "We're doomed" ModBob aesthetic that began with Slow Train Coming and was last seen in the ironic Modern Times.

The leaked cover artwork apparently expertly sums up the tone, lyrics and sound multi-billionaire Dylan has achieved on his 875th long playing record:

My intention was to copy all them posts of yours and paste them into one large file, make an apt formatting and print the file onto a roll of 3-ply-4-inch paper. But, you know, all I got was a huge paper jam, what a shit! So I abandoned this altogether.

Not sure if this is feasible but looking at the six week gap between shows I am starting to wonder if the new album will come out late in May just before the first show in England. In which case an announcement would be imminent.

It would be a pleasant surprise, but..... I think they'll throw it out in the fall in time for Christmas shopping.

The release date will be calculated to maximize sales, yes.
Could go either way, but it feels like it won't be until summer's almost gone and winter's coming on...

our falls have been warmer than our springs for the last three years. there's still a glimmer of hope for a may release. how much notice was given before TTL was out? i think that was revealed in one of the 'new album' threads.
