Listening to Hard Rain right now -- that's my choice. Compact listening experience, no filler, love the band, love the mix, has the live intensity that Dylan's peers can't come close to... Several all-time definitive versions on this album. Epic cover. I held its tracklist against it for a long time (no title track, no Isis, etc) but I've gotten over it -- it doesn't have to be a definitive "live 1976" album, I can accept that.

I included Blood On The Tracks in this poll since I lump it together with this era. The critics would vote for this, of course, but it doesn't hold up for me as well to repeated listenings.

because you prefer other version of the songs? or because you don't like the songs anymore?

If I could have the Japanese Hard Rain TV broadcast, and an iMax cinema, that would be the one.

Otherwise, if sticking strictly to audio, the quadraphonic mix of Desire. The best album Dylan ever made and the best mix of it.

When I think of how few people will ever hear the quad Desire, I'm Zaphod stepping into the Total Perspective Vortex*.

Game Over.

i'm sick of these unreasonable and unrealistic desert island questions. What would i truly pack in advance if i were to surprisingly find myself stranded on a desert island??? it would have to be a destination island, and if i could pack beforehand -- how would the question of which collection of music come up before i decide if i will have my turntable, my computer/ipod, or my cd player with surround sound? what would generate electricity? would i have a generator? or would i have to spend a trip going to the island's convenience store for batteries??? a little more information and you may have my vote...

On a desert island and these are the choices? I'm going Live 75... its a double album and a couple of these arrangements may well be the best Bob's ever done.

"Blood on the Tracks" obviously pulls my heartstrings more, but I find "Desire" more compelling thematically. So I would pick "Desire".

Plus, of course, Black Diamond Bay would be perfect in this setting.

And I would quite enjoy laying on a beach, deserted except for some kelp and a piece of an old ship that lies on the shore, and listening to "Sara".

Would I rather be killed by an electric drill slowly inserted into my eye socket or by having my insides pulled out through my penis?

Where can one find the quadraphonic mix of Desire?

If you could build a small foot powered bamboo car, that you could power speedily around the island, would you still choose Blood on the Tracks?

how big is the island and is it more circular or longitudinal? now we are finally getting somewhere!

I disagree that sitting in one sweaty hot place is the best way to listen to Black Diamond Bay.

I went with Live '75 but Desire is a very, very close 2nd. Desire is my favorite Dylan studio album. I adore all 4 of these releases by the way, and naturally the Rolling Thunder era is my favorite era of Dylan's work.

Desire...While not necessarily my favorite of the bunch, it would fit the atmosphere of a desert island perfectly.

i think the Singalong to "The Water is Wide" would be worth the price of admission. by that i mean getting stranded....i may change to "75
