Better jump down a manhole.

New addition to the Bob Dylan street furniture line. I wonder how long this newly dedicated Bob Dylan manhole cover will last in Duluth? It's certainly a rare disc and only weighs 170 pounds. Did I get it right? Now there are three Dylan manhole covers in Duluth? It may be getting worth a visit.

Here is a video of the installment ceremony yesterday from front page:
http://www.duluthnewstribune.com/event/ ... id/232514/

I was down in the sewer with some little lover
When I peeked out from a manhole cover
Wondering who turned the lights on

A different take on Bob Dylan covers.

I was just thinking there must be a better way to honor someone. I better not say what I thought was pictured on it before I recognized it as a harp.

Well, shit, now you have to tell us. Don't be a tease, Parker.

What an honor. We can bet that the other Presidential Medal awardees can't say they have there very own dedicated manhole covers. And, certainly not a new one within the same week! Of course, everyone is going to want one now.

Is there a dedicated Dylan portaloo where you can pay your respects?

There's nothing about this news report that I don't like - this is my favourite bit -

"Two men from central Wisconsin who were fishing on the Brule River took a break to watch the small ceremony. The water had gotten murky, Scott Stieber said.

Peter Weinschenk called himself a Dylan fan and also: “A fan of manhole covers,” he said. “It’s a natural for artistic expression.”"

I can't quite put my finger on why the thought of a 170lb Dylan themed manhole cover on the corner of 13th Avenue East and London Road near the Duluth Armory (and two others on Bob Dylan Way) cheers me, but it does - immensely.

I like the idea, too....and good thing they weigh 170 lbs....otherwise, thieves would take them.

In New Orleans, we have decorative covers in each front yard for the watermeters...
Image

Tourists steal them from people's yards...leaving an open hole about 4 ft. deep for people
to step into.
The watermeter covers are smaller and lighter than the ones in Duluth, though.
HOpefully, no one will steal a manhole cover weighing 170 lbs.!

Those look pretty nice Queen. How much for the Bob limited edition?
Don't follow leaders and watch the water meters...

Flooded streets and rushing water can lift them---that's why it's so dangerous to drive through flooded streets; snow plows can really do a number to them too. And I agree, if you want something bad enough anything is possible.

Careful though. You could get arrested for that.
