I see that Blind Willie McTell is most likely the source for most of the lyrics but he doesn't have the repeated line 'All the friends I ever had are gone' which IMO, makes the song even better.

There's a chapter in the wilentz book on delia... a great read. Can't remember off the top of my head but he walks through the possible influences

I had done some research on it in the old millionaires thread. Bob says that it's a mixture of two versions . I think these are the ones he's talking about
