Just 2 rules

1. No one can say - "the next one"

2. No shows post 2000 allowed.

I've never seen a consensus on even his greatest decade.

To the original question - no. Definitely no. Not here.

As to rule #2 - you're freakin' kiddin', right? If we are to chose his best-ever show, why exclude over a decade - over 1000 shows?? IF they're not good enough, which I guess this rule means to imply, wouldn't they fall out of the voting themselves?

Also, the question doesn't make sense, since best in terms of art is purely subjective.

Let's also exclude shows from may 1964 to june 1964. Also 1981. Also January 12, 1967. Also November and December 1994. Also any Labor Day shows.

I think no show pre-1975 should be allowed, either.

Someone should have warned you aurthur. You had good intentions. And since you're relatively new let me give you a piece of advice. Next time you think of hitting that submit button pm your idea to a mr. thickboy.

Trust me.

Case in point. The real question is can we agree that the answer is no before we finish page 1 of this topic....

Good idea, Mr Precarious - I especially like the nuking of anything after 2000. Gotta keep the real numbnuts at bay....

So, I've got it down to a choice of 3:

1) Manchester 1966
2) MSG 1975
3) Fort Worth 1976

Despite my profound love for those second 2, I think Manchester '66 is THE defining Dylan concert.

^If not greatest(could be), certainly the most legendary concert. By ANYONE!!

Well. Maybe Candlestick '66

1966. Quite a year for shows, eh?

We're talking about the greatest touring artist ever, trying to reduce him to one single show?

I dont see you naming even one, Johanna - now, wouldn't you say that was odd?

I wonder sometimes if you even listen to his music at all.

That'd be a disservice to the artist, the art and humanity at large, and should be avoided.

I agree that Dylan's career can't really be reduced to one individual show, but in the spirit of fun, my nominee would be Manchester 1966. Fort Collins 1976 is a close second, but then, there are all those concerts that I never even heard about!

It would make it so much easier to have a complete collection of shows though.

Ok, lets make this easier:

Video: Fort Collins '76
Audio: Manchester '66

If it was great, what would it make greater than the virtually identical other '66 shows? The heckler guy?

Well, well. Then it'd Fort Collins.

Don't know about greatest, but Carnegie '63 is one of his best.
