I don't really know what you're on about with that last line, but it's a good story.

With those shows that have been mentioned in this thread, which fit the time frame you favor, why don't you create a poll? It'd be much easier to get results.

JP - People seem to think i'm some kind of troll and call me a Bob-hater just because i'm not keen on modbob - i'm not a troll, Bob-hater or anything else like that.

Well - i think that the consensus has concluded that Manchester May 1966 was Bob's best show.

I have a little story too about this one. You will all know that for years this was thought to have been recorded at the Royal Albert Hall on the last date of the tour. Years later after research by Clinton Heylin it was revealed that Manchester was the actual location. How did this come about? I hear you ask. Well I will tell.......

A friend of mine, Chris Hockenhull, lives in Liverpool and happens to be Britains Top Dylanologist. He had a number of newspaper cuttings in his archive about the Manchester show from the time (i.e May 1966). Amongst the clippings was a letter from a local newspaper (may have been the Manchester Evening News) in which a chap who had attended the Manchester show was bemoaning the fact that Bob had got such a hard time at the show and that someone had the gall to shout "JUDAS!" prior to "Like A Rolling Stone". Chris, being an intelligent chap, thought to himself "Hmmm...that's a big coincidence someone shouting "Judas" at two shows!" So he phoned his very good friend Mr Clinton Heylin at around 10pm one wet evening and said "Clinton....I have this letter..." Chris realted his theory and Clinton leaped on his motorbike and sped the 20 or so miles between Manchester and Liverpool to check Chris' evidence. Ol' Clinton did some digging and before too long the truth was confirmed. The famed "Live at Albert Hall" was actually "Live at Manchester Free Trade Hall".

Nice story eh?

See I am not really a troll who is worse than Hitler.

When did your friend contact Heylin, Arthur? The first I knew about it probably being Manchester was when CP Lee (who went on to write 'Like The Night', an account of the concert) had a letter stating this published in the New Manchester Review, in 1978.

I don't know the exact date Mr Train - but Chris (and I think Clinton) is friendly with C P Lee so there's some kind of connection there too. Chris has a huge Dylan archive, books, magazines, clippings and all the music. He's currently working on a book about Dylan's 65 UK tour.

I lent my copy of Eat The Document to C P Lee. It was the first time he'd ever seen it. He did give it back.

Book! Tell him my book shelf is happily awaiting it. Even though covered on film, the '65 tour (and the transitionary '64) has kind of been overshadowed by '66. I wish someone would look into that ('64) again.

That is a cool story - but how has it been established that Chris is Britain's top Dylanologist? What are his credentials? Who's the guy in second place?
Also, it would be ridiculous of anyone to suggest that you're worse than Hitler, given that all you've done so far is start an entertaining thread that had some restrictions placed on it. However, I'll reserve proper judgement until the end of your life, and it's been fully established that you never once committed mass genocide. And if you do commit mass genocide, Arthur, I'm afraid I will have to re-evaluate your character very harshly!

The newspaper which printed the original mention of the 'Judas' incident was the local Oldham rag, not the Manchester Evening News.

It's effectively a toss-up between 2 dates, separated by one day: May 16 & 17 1966. NET'ers: your Bob Paralympics poll is being crafted, even as I write

And at Finjan Club he was stoned. Maybe people want to fantisize about the experience of being in a tiny club with Bob Dylan, but he didn't play that great.

I don't think there's reason for insult, either to Bob or his fans.

Sheffield or Manchester - either one. My personal preference is Sheffield.

It's obvious, Trev. Because he liked the NET, and I kid you not. Silenced anyone who wasn't worthy.

The poll done here for the best 75 Dylan concerts wound up with 13 concerts from the 60s and 19 concerts that are post 2000.

If I may quote a line from "Veep" - "that puts us in a saladspinner of fuck."

Manchester, Sheffield..Sheffield, Manchester, decisions, decisions. No time for them, when you're being blown away by A Clockwork Orange, on ITV4. Only the second time I've seen it. So far ahead, it's ahead of ahead.
