Hello my fellow ERers. I wrote this piece a little while ago on my blog generally about the reasons for such widespread obsession with Bob Dylan, stemming largely from my own. I figured this was probably the best crowd for it, so if any of you all are interested in reading it, here it is.

http://arthurelliot.wordpress.com/2012/ ... bob-dylan/

I'd love to know what you think.

And, just as a completely shameless bit of self-promotion, the blog also features much of my poetry, prose, and music, and so if anyone's interested in killing an hour or so, it's not the worst place to do it.

That is all for now!

A very interesting blog post, procatcher31! WRT Dylan's singing voice, while it's not a conventionally attractive voice, I do believe that he's been able to employ a variety of techniques which other singers might well envy. I personally view him as a singer with an average voice, but with a very unique ability as a vocal stylist--of which, I'd say, he's absolutely one of the greatest.

Bob's voice is one that some celestial voice Luthier crafted, hoping to make a certain sound, of which it turned out, there was only one, and can't be duplicated. That Luthier also got his friend to give Bob the certain gifts that only the greatest singers have, to be able to use that voice.

:Okey doke, if you want.

Just some quick ten cent refute to the whole 'Bob can't sing' jazzola that I've been hearing for years.

But I mean it, too. It's a totally unique voice like Sinatra or some other people had.

.. i got a feelin' anyone who claimed
Bob can't sing - around me - still detests me
for the things i said/say regarding their cranial rot...

- and :D .. funny you should mention Sinatra and Bob together ..
.. i am right now in the process of being 'Sinatrauma-treated'
- and my Doctor is gonna see this, and i am going to hear it
..... quite possibly and probably eternally. .

You know what Bob said about Sinatra, right?

"He was there with the truth of things in his voice."

From one great singer to another. High praise.

I enjoyed reading that procatcher. Sounds like you are finding your own voice! Enjoyed listening to your songs too. Best of luck.
