You do know he didn't wrote that? That's an old song, though it's doesn't matter that much. :)

Who can say what's really underrated among Dylan fans, there's always some contingent who'll rate any of his songs.

My 5 picks that seem to have slipped below the radar, and it's fine with me if they stay there. :)

Drifters Escape
I Believe In You
From A Buick 6
Man In The Long Black Coat
I Threw It All Away

lots of great songs mentioned.
one that hasn't been mentioned (at least from my quick read of the thread) is a great song, originally an outtake, then finally officially released on the first set of bootleg series.

'lord protect my child'

an underrated gem, if you ask me

Sweetheart Like You (getting some love on this thread, thank goodness)
Something's Burning, Baby (groovy, and perfect phrasing)
Spirit on the Water (one of Dylan's "prettiest" songs)
You Angel You (the hopeless romantic in me loves the simplicity and melody)
What Can I Do For You? (maybe Dylan's best expression of the feelings of the recent convert)

1. I Forgot More (Than You'll Ever Know About Her)
2. Ninety Miles An Hour ( Down A Dead End Street)
3. Precious Memories
4. Union Sundown
5. Alberta #1

Weirdly I think Self Portrait is indeed one of Bob's worst albums overall, but it is Bob though and of course it has a few Gems on it.

also : Do Right To Me Baby

Most of the good songs from his Gospel albums get proper credit for being good songs, this one doesn't receive as much praise, which I don't understand, it kicks ass in my opinion.

This one takes some thought:

1- This Dream of You
2- Lone Pilgrim
3- Goin' to Acapulco
4- Most of the Time
5- I'll Be Your Baby Tonight if only for this excellent version by Curtis Stigers- I can think of few songwriters who can be covered in so many ways- this is just one strong example. It is why his catalog is so vibrant for me:

Canadee-I-O is really well done. One of the highlights of those two albums, for me.

s the years go by, not only do I believe the following is Dylan's most "under-rated" song, it is one of his very best!: "Can You Please Crawl..." Comments ?

That's a fun rockin' and reelin' song. Prefer the Michael Bloomfield cut to the one with the Hawks, though.

I don't rank it with his best.

While rarely mentioned I can only assume everyone loves those songs...not underrated as much as underdiscussed.

^ Seems right to me, smoke. I love those songs. I also put "Crawl Out Your Window" in my top 5. Who doesn't love that one?

8) I like your list, oldman. But, i would include Winterlude instead of Sign on the Window.

These lists are so correct! Here's mine:

Lily, Rosemary and The Jack Of Hearts
To Ramona
I Want You (I know it was a commercial success, but nobody ever discusses the lyrical merit of it too much)
Outlaw Blues
Jokerman

My picks from studio albums:

In the Summertime
The harmonica, the warmth, the well constructed lyrics, beautiful melody...

Don't Fall Apart on Me Tonight
Great closing track for "Infidels".

Where Are You Tonight? (Journey Through Dark Heat)
The extravagant "Street-Legal" writing and tempo.

Temporary Like Achilles
One of the least favored tracks on "Blonde on Blonde", I think in a way it almost defines the album.

Brownsville Girl
Well it's subjective whether it's considered underrated. I think it's quite overlooked.

AGREE ALL THE WAY WITH THESE TWO

Bob Dylan's Dream
Too Much of Nothing
I am a Lonesome Hobo
Went to see the Gypsy
Tough Mama

I actually almost chose "Bob Dylan's Dream" and "Tough Mama" for my picks. "Tough Mama" is easily my go-to song. I could be doing something and not even think of Dylan and suddenly go: oh, I need to listen to "Tough Mama". My fave song off "Planet Waves".
