all signs point to the new album being one of his top works.

Based on the ( limited ) info we have , was he recording between this tour and the last one ?

I believe all the available info pointed at recording sessions before S. America.

Just got home from the concert, which was a very uneven one for me. My 7th concert and not as good as the ones I attended in 2010 and 2011. On the same level as those I attended in 2009 (with Freeman still).

Positive points:

- Security: they are strict with the cameras, yes, but it makes Bob Dylan one of the few acts where you don't get distracted by cameras constantly popping up.

- Relatively delicate vocals on the piano (but often too soft in the mix)
- Highlights were: She Belongs to Me, Love Sick, Blowin' in the Wind
- Best version of Thin Man I heard so far (so that makes it the best song of the concert)
- No hat and sunglasses for the first 4 songs!

Negative points:

- Charlie looks so bored, I feel sorry for him, he's obviously hold back by Bob and now also very low in the mix. He basically only really added to Blowin' in the Wind and High Water
- as a result those blues songs become so boring, like Thunder, Highway 61, Levee etc. First you had solos and in recent years they would lock into a groove. Now it's just nothing, with a quiet part to hear Bob hitting random keys on whatever instrument
- that Cry A While arrangement remains interesting for about 20 seconds, awful arrangement.
- LARS and Watchtower without any energy whatsoever. Also partly due to the crowd (it was raining quite heavily back then, so understandable)
- Normal certainties like Things have Changed were weak affairs
- And he should not touch the guitar any more

He's also often overshadowed by Stu. That guy's a force. I wouldn't be surprised if Stu is taking more of a lead role than Charlie. That happened with Denny too.

I've seen Stu dominate a show. He's scary at times.

I'm the happiest person in the world.

Very good concert. Bob was very... how can I say... very comfortable, but Codyke forgot to say that a rain came to wet the women. hahaha! I became completely wet, but extremely happy to see Bob in so good mood.

Glad you enjoyed the show. Wet women are a good thing. Should always be like that. 8)

Stu has been heavily leashed his entire Dylan career. I always thought that the real reason that Bob has kept him around so long is because he only has to pay him minimum wage plus he doubles as one of the bus drivers.

I think I feel letdown because I was so excited the night he joined Bob on stage. It was Guilford, NH, a few years back and I remember being completely underwhelmed by Bob's choice to bring his Empire Burlesque guitarist back. But, I was excited for change, and with front row seats to boot. Dozens and dozens of shows later Stu still has the same effect on me. Seems like a nice guy and all, I'd just like to see him do something (and i don't mean a Tom Waits impersonation)...anything!
Hey, it's Bob's choice so I will roll with it, just very surprised he's hung on this long.

Heavily leashed?? Gotta disagree with you there. Stu has played many a solo since day one in the band.

Overall I like Stu a lot. He's a damn good player.

i dont think bob is not looking for a big lead guitar up front type of sound. they just all kinda play back and forth.

Somebodies got to be the consistent anchor up on that stage...he does it damn well. Whenever I get bored I look to stu and have a laugh at whatever expression he's sporting....he looks like he packs a six shooter. And a flask...
