thank you for posting!

pretty neat party trick -

but it falls a little flat to me...it's bob saying, 'see? alot of my songs do sound similar in their background music !!!'

Gotta agree with 64 on that. Many of the melodies are so similar that Bob could've gone either way (stayed w/Pillbox, or switch to River Flow), and both sets of lyrics seemingly would work. Funny...the crowd didn't seem to notice the changeover...at all. Shows how much attention they were paying.

After watching this, R & T, and a few others...it seems apparent that Bob is slowing them down, and quieting the instrumentals, in an attempt to be heard without barking. It seems to have worked...and am glad he's doing this. At the same time...he's taming some pretty rousing rockers.

That was a big screw up , and i blame the band for not following Bob at the bridge ( people disappearing... ) . However , it seems he decided to change the song without a warning .

The rest of the show is great . If you don't believe me come see

viewtopic.php?f=9&t=70652

Great recording too . Don't you dare miss it :)

Nice to see him playing the "let's totally fuck up the band" game again!

Anyone who thinks that is anything other than a monumental balls up is beyond hope.

The band is obviously playing Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat for the first few minutes. I don't know how anyone could mix up these two songs, they're both pretty recognizable.

It seems the chaos before the song started caused a mood shift, pretty dimensional really :D :D :D

do we have any real eyewitness accounts of this? i still am undecided as to how the band and bob would go so long doing two different things - this band moves on a DIME baby -

accident or intentional, it's all art - get with it - this is a hard-on brilliant mash

This has happened a number of times before, over the years. Some instances discussed here. A bit embarrassing perhaps but we all make mistakes, after all.

I'm not at all sure about that. I think the band is playing River Flow from the getgo, and Bob realizes it less than a minute in and switches over. (Not only does it not sound like LSPH to me, but why would the band be playing LSPH and Bob being singing it...then he switches to another song? That would make...zero sense.)

Nah, you crazy!

They're playing and Dylan's singing the same old pill-box when BD suddenly switches to River Flow - if the band meant to play it they'd have played the bridge with him instead of letting him sing it over a verse of pill-box.

What the heck does me being crazy have to do with anything 8) They're playing River Flow. First...I can tell...second it would defy logic to have it the other way around. Ok now...the band is playing LSPH...and Bob is singing LSPH...then a minute or so in...Bob gets bored...and decided to switch to a new song? If you listen to the opening of LSPH and RDW....the intro is almost the same. This is not that.

Actually, it's difficult to tell who the hell is doing what. It's certainly a mess.

1- anyone remember the ER apocryphal story floating these whereabouts about bob mashing up two songs together?
2- since pillbox has been like a freight train gaining speed i thought maggie could ride shotgun viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70225&p=1171291#p1171291

tony's actions on this are key, still need an eyewitness for the communication on stage - but i say it was oh just a simple twist, get it on, this is fun peoples, art is fun kids

So I'm unable to download to realplayer as I usually do, luckywilbury's STOF, listed on the right side of youtube as additional vids when playing pillbox river flow. Does anyone have a remedy for someone not too tech savvy? Thanks a bunch. It's such a beautiful version.

The band start playing River Flow: it doesn't jump to the 4th chord, they stay on the 1st, like river flow should...
Bob starts singing pillbox, the band follow with pillbox.
Bob starts singing riverflow, band don't follow until about 2minutes later...
Doesn't sound too bad considering!

Interestingly, PillBox has been played in different keys. I'm not sure how many but seems to be changing around night to night. Wonder if it's a day of the week thing....

Maybe some of them do, I'm not a musician, so I can't say for sure that you're wrong, however, both last year's "River Flow" versions and the one from Salzburg last weekend start with this little guitar figure rather than the ratatat drum part reminiscent of "RDW", so the fact that the drum intro is present is an indication to me that they all start "Pillbox" and the they only move over to "River Flow" later because they realize that Bob's not just being carried away, he really want to do "River Flow". Just my 2 cents.

what made me wonder was that there was no interaction (eye contact/talking) on stage when bob suddenly changed the lyrics... but maybe they got used to it over the years :)
