"I wish, I wish, I wish in vain,
That we could sit simply in that room again."

Many times while thinking of lost friends or family, these lines have often crept back to mind in a peculiar,
beautifully comforting... yet almost hauntingly way.

The air is thick and heavy
All along the levee
Where the geese into the countryside have flown

There was a bright, bright full Moon last night, I noticed the river was very high, there were even some geese, but it was cold and frosty. I'd love some thick, heavy, warm air.

But there's a clearer road a-waitin'
With the cinders on the side.' 8)

I know - I'm 12 years old  I also have a dog in my lap who insists on licking my fingers as I attempt to type. Life is beautiful, even if I do have a cold. We got 8 inches of snow last night and now we're getting a coating of sleet.

I can hear the church bells ringing in the yard
I wonder who they're ringing for

I'll eat when I'm hungry, drink when I'm dry
And live my life on the square

By the way, what happened to that poison wine?"
She says, "I gave it to you, you drank it."

Take me down to California, bay-bay.

In the soft light of morning I'll follow you with my eyes

And the line that got my attention in the first place and got me to really listen to the lyrics
"The sun's not yellow it's chicken"

She screamed till her face got so red
Then she fell on the floor,
And I covered her up and then
Thought I'd go look through her drawer.

Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child's balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon
To understand you know too soon
There is no sense in trying.

And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen nothing like me yet

It always amazes me that he wrote that song when he was so young. Only 22 and it's like he was looking back decades to his youth.

A Satisfied Mind
"How many times have you heard someone say
If I had his money I'd do things my way
Hmm, but little they know
Hmm, it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten with a satisfied mind."
