Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom, June 2004. First time I'd seen the great man, and the opportunity to see him in such an intimate venue couldn't be missed, even at £50 a ticket

Atmosphere was brilliant, and even Bob looked visibly moved

Second time, Glasgow SECC, November-ish 2004 or 05....I think? Decent without hitting the heights. Threw more than a few people who didn't know how early he'd be on stage. I still remember seeing people wandering in at 9pm thinking he'd just started...he was about 4 songs from the end by then

Unfortunately, I've only been listening to Dylan for a little bit over a year (doesn't stop me from having hundreds of bootlegs, but I digress), so I've only ever seen one of his concerts:

New Britain 7/15/09

But hoping to go this summer when he comes back to the US.

I'll carry on where Steve Barker left off in Manchester :)

9th May 2002 - MEN, Manchester
20th June 2004 - Fleadh Festival, London
18th November 2005 - NEC, Birmingham (missed half the show, damn the M6)
20th November 2005 - Brixton, London
22nd November 2005 - Brixton, London
28th June 2006 - BIC, Bournemouth
15th April 2007 - Wembley, London
16th April 2007 - Wembley, London
17th April 2007 - NIA, Birmingham
25th April 2009 - O2 Arena, London
3rd July 2010 - Hop Farm Festival, nr Paddock Wood, Kent

And, in a super nerdy overview, I've worked out that I've seen 68 different songs over the 11 shows! :-D

The Association. 1967ish. Chicago, maybe the Auditoreum. First concert. Went there hoping they would sing Cherish. Sigh, and thrilled when they did...

Black Oak Arkansas, 1972...Jim Dandy prancing across the stage from his gravelly grave...singing Halls of Karma. WOW! I was so young and true. Color me Blue.

Black Oak Arkansas-Oregon, 1992? Went there hopin' Jim still lived within the gravel pits of verse. He does...but more, he's singin' for pals, and announcing the faith, thusly did he speak, looking out into the few...some of us gathered just cuz he's "new".

I stayed outside while the few went to say high, after the show, ho ho ho dead as a doornail...but waylaid him when none could see, but newcomer and me...

"Hey, I saw you play in '72. Too many of us to count." His eyes lit up, he looked my way and said, "Toss me a few..."
I said, "I saw you in '72, what happened to you?" I wondered where it all went...why he had failed. sigh, I was dead like some of you, loving his music but disappointed that the man's life hadn't kept up with the excitement it generated in me, even that night.
He ignored me and turned to the third girl I knew, she said, eyes glowing with delight, "YOU were wonderful."
Ol' Jim Dandy himself taught me not to mess with messin'...picked up that gal's hand, and kissed it plain as day, the way a gent should. I stood there pretty ashamed, and he knew it.

Halls of Karma
Desperado
Uncle Elijah

Twenty-eight in the audience, electrifying vocals, and I gotta complain cuz he's playing for us...had to insult the man. Did it out of ignorance, of course, so I forgave me, but for awhile I knew my place. Ho ho ho

Edgar Winters Band--1972...Young Frankenstein's crew

What a trip that man is, or was, and ever shall be?

Or was it his brother? It was the lesser known one.
Interesting adjunct to, I believe:

Buddy Miles Express

Learned to appreciate drummin'...bout all.

Sly Stone and ...-Belmont Racetrack-Queens, NY...1978-ish

Not saying it was anything. His afro was everything. Odd how close we can get when their star is almost hidden. Coulda pretended to dance like the rest, but just stood real close hugging my chest. Sly, what can I say...hmm. Hollywood, where are you comin' from. Odd year for songwriting, and performance art, that ol' bannered year. Eh wot?

Mr. B.B. King--Chicagofest, 1973

I was seated behind a girl and guy I knew from high school, already home from the army.
She turned around to look at me...often. Finally she said, concerned, "You dont look like you're having any fun, Robert." A tear spilled down my cheek, from eyes remembering where it was lost. "I think I forgot how to have fun I told her." I could not bear the burden I was under so got up and left my seat.

Not much could move me anymore. Went with chums from before the war. They were a bore. I left my seat. Went to the stage. Mr. King stepped back somewhat to see, how much danger might be bringing me. None...he relaxed. Caught me studying his finger attacks. Bent down kinda low, ripped up and down, then bent them for me. Wailed away, transfixed, but coldly studying my exit...from the past life they wanted me to live. I was dead, and knew it right then. Born again high in the sky, dead to all pleasures within mind's eye. Sigh.

Told this once before. Man said, "It wasn't B.B. King, he never played Chicagofest. Besides, he was in town for a different gig. Why would he do the Fest?" I don't know, I didn't care then, or now. Whoever it was...B.B. King was announced on an off-stage, off to the side...practice he did, for us.
