I've only been here for about 4 or 5 days and I've noticed that some members have Titanium member or Platinum member rank. What does this mean? Do you get it after a certain number of posts?

Yeah, it's post count.

I think 5000 is Titanium and 10,000 is Platinum.

It is based on the number of posts. I keep waiting for Milkcow to come over and explain the privledges and benefits involved, but it has yet to happen :( I'd hate to think I wasted all this time posting and reading about this Bob Dylan guy for nothing. It did make me curious enough to buy a greatest hits album and I thought - shit, this guy can't sing!!

Females that make Mercury status receive special priviledges at the shows...

Its a not much of a secret but Bob smiles at them from the stage and they just swoon for him.

I've been wondering: What do all these metals have to do with Bob Dylan? And then, this thread about how Bob designs iron fences and gates pops up!!
I propose adding more rankings to ER: 1-99 posts = Copper Member, and 100-4999 posts = Iron Member..

or, something like that. Maybe Thickboy at one time was an iron member, but, sadly, no one knew about it..

I propose a probationary period in which newbies, those with 1-99 posts be referred to as Paper Member. Once they have shown that they can contribute to discussions and not be a distraction to the site, they can earn whatever the next level is... but as Paper Members they'd better not screw up or we cut 'em off.

This is serious business.

Our very own Senior Contributor can keep an eye on them.

you will always be first but you may never be senior 8)

i would much rather be plutonium than titanium but one gets the metal ones magnetism justifies - is zinc magnetic? I think a few alloys could be introduced, and zircon is a cool metal. kryptonite might be for the missing in action, Still Mack springs to mind. It is rather horrifying how the posts mount up, one could be outside meddling with nature and stuff.

The number of posts is all important... people post continuously ad nauseum in Conversation Using Only Dylan Lyrics to get the count up. It means something to some folks...

As a note, I've never posted in that thread and don't anticipate that I ever will.

^I'll have you know mister that I only post important, thoughtful, and well constructed opinions on the NET and through generosity of spirit I have never charged anyone a penny for my thoughts. I give them freely and frequently!!!

No one has ever complained of nausea because of my posts... not that I paid attention to anyway. I share my opinions freely because everyone is entitled to my opinion and it would behove you to respect the NET as a gift from the hand of a benevolent and loving God before its too late and you find yourself in a hot place where there is the weeping and gnashing of teeth!
