Subject: Re: Bringing It All Back Home: Spike Lee Connection. From: TBoneFrank (tbonefrank@aol.com) Date: 30 Oct 1998 01:35:20 GMT ... Some guy in an SF independent record store has an old photo of Dylan standing behind Carolyn Hester and between two black musicians. One was William E. Lee. He told me William E. Lee is Spike Lee's Dad. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone also recall if Spike ever used any Dylan tunes (from his Dad's sessions with Dylan) in his movies? TbF
Subject: Re: Bringing It All Back Home: Spike Lee Connection. From: Rob (icefloe@interlog.com) Date: Sat, 31 Oct 1998 23:25:27 -0500 Bill Lee is in fact Spike's dad. He was involved in a jazz label called Strata East which was an artist run label from New York. They recorded Pharoah Saunders, Clifford Jordan, and many many others. I didn't know he was on BIOBH. Very interesting. About three years ago the NY post ran this B I G bold headlined cover story about how Spike's dad Bill had been arrested for possession of a packet of weed. Hmmmm.
